Hello everyone, a few weeks ago I was in Toronto. I stayed on Bloor and passes hermes daily. They had a great window display with a beautiful chair and desk. I do not know if they were a set. They were simply beautiful. I believe the leather color was rouge. This made me think do any of our lovely members own any hermes furniture. Could you share? Pictures, stories, etc do you order this, do they deliver etc....

Hi everyone!
Does anyone own any Hermes furniture?

I would like to add a few accent pieces to my home and wanted to get some inspiration as to which pieces would have the most impact.

pics and suggestions for which pieces would be great!

From a quick search, it seems this topic has started a few threads over the years and none of them get more than one or two replies. Not surprisingly, it seems very few members buy Hermes furniture…

I have a few furniture pieces. I was looking specifically for JM Frank pieces and decided to go for Hermes rather than other licensed manufacturers like the Invisible Collection. The deciding factor for me occurred when I compared the Hermes shearling club chairs, which I found to be of better quality and having a more seamless back than the other galleries. I also have the JM Frank dining set in the light oak by Hermes. The craftsmanship can not be compared especially with the leather cushions. Overall, I overall recommend all the JM Frank pieces, but the price difference is definitely worth taking into account. I was not looking to buy Hermes furniture, but rather I was specifically interested in JM Frank pieces because of their story and significance in the design realm. I have also tried chaise métiers and did not end up ordering. The chair is very beautiful and a classic, but a friend of mine had warned me that it was not the most comfortable. I did not find it to be uncomfortable, but I ultimately decided against as I think the style is a bit similar to my Pierre Jeanneret teak chairs. If you want a piece that is classic Hermes, I would recommend the Pippa collection. I have a few of the stools, and the craftsmanship is exquisite. They are great to put under a console table or like I have them randomly arranged under my entry round table. Another piece I absolutely love, but haven’t ordered yet is the satellite coffee table collection. I loved the idea that they come in all sizes and marbles. But, like any natural stone table, the tops are not all the same; and among the boutiques, I’ve seen many that I love, and some I don’t. As for their delivery, the larger pieces come in large wooden crates. The chairs and table come with custom chevron fabric dust covers. All the pieces are marked with Hermes, and the JM Frank pieces are labeled with “JM Frank par Hermes.” Overall, I pleased with the quality and design of Hermes furniture. But, for the price, I think it’s important to shop around and go to your local design district and visit galleries. At some of the prices, it’s more interesting to go for custom furniture or buy originals. I personally think Hermes furniture can not furnish a whole home without looking like the showroom in Pantin. Like any furniture, it’s all about design and craftsmanship; not the brand name, so my take on Hermes furniture is buy the pieces you find beautiful.

Thank you! Good to hear the quality is great. I’m at a point where I feel like my FJ collection is almost complete and I want to buy a few pieces that I can keep forever and possibly pass on (if my kids like the style!!). I am looking at the metiers chair and the metiers storage chest. I think these two complement my existing furniture really well.

would you be comfortable to take some photos of your Pippa stools and how you styled them?

I would like to accumulate a nice collection of Hermes furniture over time as I do find it very beautiful.

imho a chair or desk is probably more functional than a diamond bangle and can be enjoyed by the whole family, not just me.

I have attached photos that I had seen in AD that pushed me to order the stools. I loved the way Lee Mindel used the stools in different ways from the desk to the living room. The stools are very practical and adaptable and float around my house. I also added a picture in action of the metiers desk, chair, and storage chest. I thinking the ability to pass these pieces down make it even more special. The simple designs and craftsmanship is what characterizes Hermes furniture and their other pieces, which allows them to transcend time. For example, all the JM Frank pieces were designed prior to WWII and remain current despite being nearly century old designs. I have seen some original Pippa pieces from the early 90s, and they look as good as the ones in boutiques now.

I LOVE those pictures. Thank you!! The Pippa stool is definitely on my wish list now.

I admit I don’t have any knowledge of the history behind the pieces. I just find them very beautiful.

I will probably get 1-2 pieces per year and slowly accumulate them. Hopefully my SA doesn’t leave anytime soon haha

What colorway did you get for the Pippa stools? The black looks very versatile.

I have two of the satellite tables in marble and a couple lamps. I think all are Phillippe Nigro designs (the tables definitely are). I love them - they have character yet they fit into almost any decor.
