Hi, I will be in Amsterdam for a week arriving this Saturday. Has anyone visited H stores in Amsterdam recently? How's the stock like now? Am hoping to get for Lindy 26/30 and picotin.......

Hi, I was in Amsterdam in November and was offered a bicolour picotin, which i rejected and subsequently was offered a black bolide 31, which i bought. So i guess a picotin is possible. The sa did however mentioned that birkin, kelly and lindy is usually reserved for the locals thou. :)

I have a question about the H store at Schiphol. Does anybody know if it is possible to make purchases in the store when one comes back or can only purchases be made on the outbound journey? I will be travelling from Sweden to Johannesburg via Schiphol and will have many hours waiting time in between our flight from Johannesburg and our flight back to Sweden. I thought some H shopping could be a nice way to spend the time[emoji3]

I think one can shop both inbound and outbound since you're on transit after all. Just have your boarding pass handy. :)

Thank you weN84. I was just worried the boarding pass would need to have a destination outside EU in order to be able to shop in the stores after security. I live 250 km from my home store and thought it would be a great opportunity to get a chance to shop at H. I have less transfer time on my outbound journey plus I am interested to see if any spring scarves are available (will come back on the 11th of January).

You're allowed to shop regardless of destination. Only difference is price that you'll be paying be it VAT included or duty-free depending on your destination. Hope this helps! :flowers:

Thank you so much WeN84. It for sure is helpful information. Looking forward to seeing the store. Last time I travelled outside EU via Schiphol was two years ago and the area was a construction site.

yeah, Schiphol is great for shopping even after your flight. But note that it moght take you some time to walk from gate to gate!

i will need to go to Jakarta for work in the first week of January and want to visit H at Schiphol (i have not been there yet since it opened) and I was wondering if we Dutchies get a 21% tax off of the retail proce when flying outside the EU? of is that just wishfuk thinking....? :)

I no longer have my receipt with me from my purchase at Schipol but the duty-free price was definitely not 21% off retail. If anything, I think it was closer to 10-12% off retail if I'm not mistaken. Retail price is inclusive of VAT. If VAT is 21%, that means retail price is 121%. To get to the duty free price, simply take retail price divided by 1.21. There might rounding up to the next closest Euro amount. HTH.

I also just found in an article of a blogger i follow the following on tax free shopping with flights outside the EU:
  • Netherlands 11% tax free
  • UK 11% tax free
  • France 14% tax free
  • Spain 17% tax free

I wondered the same thing a little while ago, this is what I found:
They made a choice to equal the prices for all destinations. So 11% tax free sounds right (in between 0 or 21%).
