Hermes Greys!

Hello fellow purse addicts!
What do you guys think is the best Hermes Grey???
I have two Etoupe bags, one is in Clemence and the other is in Swift. The swift comes out a bit cooler than the clemence, but both lean warmer than other greys.
What do you guys think? Etoupe is classic? Or another grey?

Étoupe is definitely 200% a classic, but not the best in my taste, as I prefer cooler tones.

My favourite would be gris perle in the lighter tones, Mouette in mids and Étain on the dark end.

imo, etoupe is one of the classic H color, but it’s not grey and I have one SO in Chevre skin. That says the best grey is Gris mouette and Etain.

I think of Etoupe as a brown/grey hybrid. My favorite grays are probably Elephant, Paris, and Etain.

100% agree. In about a dozen years of collecting H bags and other leather goods, I have never bought 1 etoupe item. It is for sure an Hermes classic, but to me it always looks brownish and muddy. I absolutely love grey and my favorites are gris Perle and etain. When I'm feeling more beige-y grey, I go for gris tourterelle.

I always think of Etoupe as Taupe-a kind of muddy beige and although a neutral I dont personally like it.
I like (some discontinued sadly) Plomb, Gris Mouette,Vert Gris and Graphite and those would be my choices for a Grey bag

Agree with the other ladies. Etoupe is nice for people with certain skin tone to carry it off. It personally washes me out. I LOVE Etain and Gris Perle though. Grey on the cooler side and looks nice with pops of color in twillys, rodeos, or SO with pop on the inside leather.

Yup - I don't even think of Etoupe as grey. It's a beige. Graphite is good for a deep definite grey and gris perle is excellent for a delicate shade to go with the kind of careful lifestyle I don't have.

Etain is my favorite of the darker grey shades.

I have an Etain Evelyne 29, an Etain Birkin 30 PHW, and an Etain Kelly 28 PHW, so I think my vote also goes to Etain, lol. I keep trying to make myself like Etoupe and I just cannot--it is too brown for me.

That being said my Graphite and Gris Pearle are very close to my heart as well.

I like Gris Perle for a light grey and Vert Amande for a darker grey but it has a green undertone so it’s not a pure grey. However, it’s the grey that people stop me in the boutique to ask about what it is.

I really, really wanted an Etoupe GHW Evie for my first Hermes bag because I do think it's such a classic color. Alas I couldn't find any store that carried one but was able to get an Etain. GHW... it wasn't my favorite at the time but it's really grown on me. I just love a light gray, especially with GHW, like mouette or asphalte.

Gris tourterelle, such a dream colour!
