Hello everyone. I want to hear your opinion on the Hermes Garden Party 36 handbag. I want to buy it for travel. Is it worth it? Which leather is most durable?
I look forward to your reply and thank you in advance.

GP 36 is great for travel as it is large enough and has a snap button to prevent things from falling off. Try the Negonda leather as it is softer and lighter. It may slough faster than country leather but you can always use a bag insert. There is also a thread here 'ode to Garden party' that you can check out.

It’s a great bag. I love my 36. It does lose its shape after a while however (I’m speaking of negonda leather as that’s the leather I have). I think a longchamps tote is more practical for travel as the gp36 doesn’t really fit over my shoulder for long periods of time. GP36 holds a lot however, is gorgeous, and I find it easy to get in and out of.

The 36 is a fantastic bag for shopping, work and day to day traveling. Personally, as a travel bag between countries or weekender Id need something more 45-6 because I may need to put a blanket/jacket and wooly accessories (you can probably guess I travel in colder countries).

All the leathers are pretty hardy. Vache Country is more structured while Negonda, a lighter leather will get softer and more slouchy, but that can be good in a bag for travel. Epsom (if you can find one in that size) is the lightest of all and the most structured.

Yes, it's totally worth it. One of my most used and versatile bags.

Definitely worth it! I use them for travel lots. They easily hold a 30 Birkin, small laptop, shawl or thin blanket, along with travel documents. What I love most is that they sit on top of my rolling luggage and I can hold onto both handles at once. Highly recommend!
