Hermes Fragrances - better than LV?

...I hope you do find some you love. Have to say the Jardin and EDT ranges are quite light as meant to be refreshed through the day. (Have heard customers complaining they don’t last long enough for the buck.) For Hermes so far some of my faves are
Galop, Kelly Caleche, Cuir de Ange, Iris Ukiyoe, Eau de Orange Verte Concentrate and entire bath line, Jardin sur Le Toit, Eau de Narcisse Bleu. These are the ones I buy and wear a lot.

Thank you :) I'll look out for some samples via ebay etc. Unfortunately, while we have an LV where I am, we don't have an H *cries*. I used to travel a lot but it'll be a while before I can go to a physical H store.

Thanks @millivanilli and @HermesStalker :) I should point out that a lot of LV's original line of scents from 2016 (?) lasts a long time. My favourite from the original range is Contre Moi and it definitely lasts. I'm just a bit in love with the newer unisex line (California Dream, Afternoon Swim and Cactus Garden specifically) which sadly doesn't seem to go the distance. I don't mind a lighter EDT not lasting all day (who doesn't enjoy a re-spray) but the price point does make me question the value.

With Hermes however I have always loved Eau de orange Vert and recently started to use Vetivert Tonka- I find they last pretty well but nowhere near as long as Piguet where I'll put on fragrance at 8am and by late afternoon I'll have someone ask me what fragrance I'm wearing (though I can no longer smell it)

Thank you. Eau de Orange Vert does seem to rate highly so I'll seek out a sample of that. I really do like different perfumes so not really against collecting a bunch of minis but the LV bottles... On the other hand, I just saw the Penhaligon bottles and they're dresser candy for sure too. I ordered a set of Hermessence with Vetivert Tonka in it so can't wait to try!

I have a few H fragrances and I prefer them over LV eventhough the staying power is poor. LV lasts longer on me but I found them too musky.
As you’re also from AU, you could request CS to send you some specific samples when you order your Hermessence. They usually do if they have them. I assume you’re getting them online?

Thanks :) I'll give them a call if some of the more expensive scents tickle my fancy but I couldn't resist getting a set of Hermessence along with a new Bastia :D

The best way to test out Hermessence is with the free samples, they have such a wide range to choose from. My SAs usually give me around 5 each time I visit the store so it didn’t take long to get a feel for the entire range.

I love their complexity (Paprika Brasil, Vetiver Tonka, Ambre Narguilé, Poivre Sacamande and Iris Ukiyoe being my go to fragrances in the H range).

The LV fragrances feel a bit simpler but nothing wrong with them per se.

In my opinion, you should rather start with a 4 or 8 small bottles set.
On the website (at least the French one) there is only a dozen € difference between the price /100 ml of the 100 ml bottles and the sets.
Personally I purchased samples on Ebay, and tried almost all scents before spending what is a lot more than the usual perfume prices.
(My favourites are Vetiver Tonka, Brin de Réglisse and Cuir d'Ange).
I got samples by LV as well, and I thought their scents have nothing in common with Hermessence, they are headier, less complex and gave me a big headache (but so does Eau de Twilly). These ended as a toilet deodorant (I hate wasting lol)

By the way, the various Hermessence are presented as meant to be worn in combinations.
Has anyone tried this?

Thank you. I guess I'm coming from having both experimented with LV samples and read various reviews for them, to have come to the conclusion that longevity isn't a strong point for LV, at least for the ten odd fragrances I had shortlisted. I'm not keen on going through that same process with H fragrances so figured I'd get a general idea of how most performed from those in the know, but I'm well aware that each scent will differ for each person.

Mostly though, I'm wondering that if I'm having doubts, then $440 (AUD) is a lot of money for 100ml of scent, when the 4-piece (choose your own) Hermessence set is $220 for 60ml (but at least I can try different scents). I'm glad you mentioned Ambre Narguilé as it sounds exactly 'me'.
I just re-read the thread.
I was comparing the prices in my previous post, but I see that in your comparison you have more perfume for your money when purchasing the 4 bottles set (that's unusual by the way).
And nothing prevents buying 4 15 ml bottles of the same fragrance
