a new comer here!!!! i want to start my cashmere shawl collection and desperately need advice from more experienced Hermes lovers!

With the new season shawls, which one would you suggest as the most... amazing! for the first ever shawl?

in my daily wear I gravitate towards neutrals and whites with a usual splashes of blues and pinks, magenta and cool toned brights for accents.. with soo many choices - my heart jumps!

Please help!

I don't personally use the 140 format but I'd like to make some recommendations!

If I had to pick only one from this season, it would be Harnais en rosace:
  • the design as it's not too busy or too sparse
  • the rosette border should look nice when tied
  • the patterns are more towards the "classic" style, not too abstract or comical, which will likely stand the test of time.
The CW here is 03, which is quite neutral:

45 silk Dress Code (Daniel Clowes) 893780S in 7 cw

I actually like this design as a 45 more than a 90.

Still finding the seasons colour families very 'off' for me.

I like blue/yellow and blue/orange but I have, and I have, and I have. The others :girlsigh:

I bought a Ltd Ed last season but nothing else. I really would like a Le Sacre des Saisons, but the cws available that would look best on me, don't do justice to the scarf and vice versa - so far. Hoping some more cw options will come-up soon and I'll hit the jackpot. Great design.

There is also a gavroche 45 for Robe legere.View attachment 5438107
45 silk Robe Legere (Theo de Gueltzl) 893936S in 6 cw

Thank you for sharing! I feel like this has promise, I've been thinking about adding more gavs now that I live in a warmer climate.
I've been feeling pretty uninspired by this season's offerings. Lots of wide solid-colored borders, which I rarely like. Even the designs that draw my attention (Lanternes, Ballons et Cocardes) seem to have little interest at the corners of the scarves, which are the parts that show most in the sorts of ties I do. Lop of that border and make it a contrasting hem!
Maybe I need to wait and see more modshots?

The Sweet Dreams triangle is intriguing, but I've never had a triangle (though, I suppose, I sometimes fold my CSGMs like one, would that be roughly the same size? I'll need to do some research on ways to tie it.

Ha! I could say that a lot on many scarf designs- “lop off the border and make it a contrast hem”.
I recently realized I do not like wide border scarves when I bought a personal grail and really really disliked it on me. The only design I can handle a border on is if black is either the base or the border. I was so surprised when it ( finally) hit me why I have not liked and returned so many like this. I also do not like dead space on a scarf, especially in corners. I am realizing that I rarely wear/enjoy my scarves with more blank space. It’s just blah on me.

I get this! I generally agree… w a few personal exceptions. The story scarf was a lot of blank space for me but there is also a lot of interest in the design and I love how it ties. It also helps that the blank space color for me is black, which is a nice versatile color. Similarly my les bassets has a lot of blank space and a border, but I adore the dark green border and that is prob the main reason it works. In short, I think we all have our little bits with scarves we prefer and generally those will hold up with very few exceptions!

I feel the same way, Nomad.

Here are some (poor) mod shots of a few AW2022 scarves I have tried today.
I did not (yet) bring any home. I just could not decide, all were so gorgeous.
One of my big favorite is the Grand Theatre Nouveau CSGM.
And also the brique Pierre Marie design.
My dh loved the Sur Mon Nuage. And SA loved the Lanternes, Ballons et Cocardes.

Fabulous! I too was looking at those 90s today, but have no phone camera. That Lanternes is particularly lovely I thought, with it’s unusual shades, but for me the background was too light, and like you, nothing came home….yet…
