Hermes Discounting??

Not quite what this thread intended, but I was told that the home furniture department can do a to the trade discount if you bring in and register your interior designer. I didn’t pursue this or ask the percentage or even ask if there was a minimum order as I do not have a specific piece or pieces in mind.

I have never been offered a discount at Hermes, and I doubt I ever will be offered one, but I have gratefully received friend of the house discounts for significant purchases from an couple of other premier luxury brands. In my very limited experience, the discount wasn’t something that a client could ask for or haggle. We were simply informed at point of payment that the SA was authorized by the brand to make this gesture. It’s also not something that we felt entitled to or necessarily expect going forward, so we simply said thank you.
I can also confirm this — recently was given another customer’s receipt by accident. They work for a well-known interior designer and received 20% off their home purchases.

I think interior designers get discounts on a lot of home decor places. So maybe at Hermes homeward as well?
You have to bring in and register your interior designer with the Hermes home dept (similar to any other place for a trade discount ) I did inquire and I seem to recall 20% sounds right. But, I want to clarify to anyone reading who may not be familiar with this arrangement. This is not a discount to the final client. Typically a business will extend a trade discount to the interior designer as a professional arrangement. To the retailer and the interior design business, an ongoing relationship and repeat business easily pay for the courtesy discount.

An interior designer takes the ’discount’ to cover their legitimate business costs, like finding, ordering, tracking orders, as well as coordinating and inspecting items. I personally do not ask professionals that I hire to pass on the discount, as I do not want to deprive them of well earned compensation. The alternative is to pay your designer an hourly or day rate for all work done. Additional fees are also part of a contract, and I do negotiate the time and additional fees. But, on a large scale job, when the designer spends many hours per week with you, and there are so many items, I would rather not nickel and dime on individual pieces. So, again, the trade savings is not a personal discount.

That’s a standard decorator discount in NYC. Depending on your agreement with your decorator, the decorator may take that 20% discount as their commission on the items you buy through them.

Hello all,

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I wanted to get some people's input and real (proven) experience on this topic.
Does Hermes offer discounts to clients?

Last year, I bought something pre-loved from a seller and she provided a copy the receipt (that also had a long list of items she purchased).
As I was scrolling the receipt to find my item, much to my amazement :wtf: I noticed that a few of the big ticket items on the receipt had been discounted DIRECTLY FROM THE STORE. Were my eyes deceiving me?

Does Hermes do this--at all? Is this something they offer to special customers they like, at the discretion of the SA? Do multiple discounts be given to VVIPs?
Has anyone had their items discounted, or witnessed something similar with their own two eyes? I thought the French luxury NEVER discounted.
There used to be an Hermès boutique in a larger store in Westport, CT that regularly put things on sale. I used to shop there and got belts, scarves, bracelets etc at a discount. That in-store boutique closed years ago, and I've never seen a discount since, although I know they do have sales at certain stores.
