Hermes Cosmographia Scarf from Real Real - Keep or Return?

Deliberately punching holes is a crime against Hermanity! You should be sent a pre-paid shipping label and receive a full refund as this would fall under "not as described" if this was not disclosed. You should not be out a penny over this. Thank you for alerting us to this practice (tagging in such a barbaric way!) on the part of TRR. This will definitely give me pause when considering whether to purchase there. Sorry to hear of your experience there. I do hope you come back to update how it turned out. That colorway of Cos. is *VERY* awesome so am seriously dismayed on that complete disregard for the care and keeping of such a treasure!

I am glad you are returning this. It makes me sad to see how this scarf has been ruined by someone poking holes in it for some cheap tag. A tragedy for such a beautiful scarf.
I came back to add that you should print these comments to send to TRR to show how Hermes lovers feel about the way they carelessly handle expensive Hermes scarves. It is sad to see that they don't understand or care about the value of Hermes products.

Dear Scarfies, please help me to make decision. I have just purchased The Cosmographia scarf from Real Real. Described as new, no visible signs of wear. I have received and it pretty looks good, except for the part that Hermes tag was removed and the Real Real attached their tag directly to the silk causing 2 small holes and 2 small pulls. Please see attached photo. I paid for the scarf with shipping and tax $566, which is above current retail. I know its somewhat popular design that sells at a higher price, which I am ok to pay if it would be in perfect condition. Do you think I should keep or return? Also - do you remove Hermes tag from your scarves or keep it? Thanks!

I know I am late to the party but I just noticed your thread. I bought quite a few items from TRR (scarves and shawls) and they are notorious for using a staple gun to attach their tags directly to fabric - especially when the care tag is missing (and the missing care tag should have been disclosed on the listing first and foremost). I have called and complained on multiple occasions - and they started to change their policies where they don't attach the tags anymore but rather include them in the dust bag separately. I have returned some items and kept those where I was able to fix the hole if those were small (it is easier to do it in cashmere than in silk) but in any case, it looks like the holes are more significant in the case of your scarf so I hope you were able to return it. They should also refund you the original shipping fee and provide a complimentary return shipping label - so returning the item shouldn't cost anything to you. If they haven't - call them up and request the refund.

As far as the care tag practice. They most recent tags (2018 and thereafter) on H scarves and shawls are hideously large - and very conspicuous so I understand that some wearers prefer to remove them - especially if one wants to display that particular corner of the scarf where the caretag is attached. Unelss you are an authentication guru and you know what you are buying and from whom, I would caution you to buy H scarves without care tags - as care tags do provide some clues as far as authenticity (they are not a gospel though, as they can be easily removed). Also, the presence of the care tag does affect the scarf's resale value - so if you are buying something as an investment, you have to think of it.

Best of luck in finding another scarf!

Chiming in to say I just had that experience with TRR, too.
@luckystar07 , I hope everything worked out for your return.

See if you are able to fix the hole - you might be able to with a needle to rearrange the thread to close it. If not, call them up and request a return. They should attach this to the caretag - not to fabric. This scarf probably came from the store - thus it has this small rectangular tag with price. I think in their warehouse they stopped doing it.

Thank you!

I would return it.....as Hermes always come up with new and exciting new designs...
Even if others do not notice those flaws, just by you using it, you would remember where they are.
And that is not a good feeling of using something others damaged.......
If it is rare rare item, might be ok to keep it but they do come out with similar variations of designs from time to time.
I missed out on a few nice designs in the past but always know that someday, nice designs will show up again for us.

good luck on deciding
