Hermes Cosmographia Scarf from Real Real - Keep or Return?

Dear Scarfies, please help me to make decision. I have just purchased The Cosmographia scarf from Real Real. Described as new, no visible signs of wear. I have received and it pretty looks good, except for the part that Hermes tag was removed and the Real Real attached their tag directly to the silk causing 2 small holes and 2 small pulls. Please see attached photo. I paid for the scarf with shipping and tax $566, which is above current retail. I know its somewhat popular design that sells at a higher price, which I am ok to pay if it would be in perfect condition. Do you think I should keep or return? Also - do you remove Hermes tag from your scarves or keep it? Thanks!

I would not be happy with this as it is not as described. Paying above retail for a damaged scarf is mental. I remove the tags from all my scarves but would never hide that fact from a potential buyer.

Ouch! I would NOT be ok with holes in my scarves at all! I can’t believe the Real Real think that it is ok to punch holes in such a delicate fabric?!


I don’t take the tags off of my scarves but I was just wondering this the other day.

And this is exactly why I would only consider buying jewelry from TRR. Complete lack of understanding of and respect for luxury goods by their obviously untrained staff. Who on earth would make a hole in an Hermes scarf to stick on a TRR tag? Only someone TRR probably hired off a street corner.

Sorry to say, I'd send this one back to TRR. I was going to suggest that you let TRR know why, but that would be a waste of your time. Clearly, it would be hard for TRR to care less.

Agree with all above, I would definitely return. It hurts to look at the holes they made with that hangtag

I have always kept my tags attached, but I'm not opposed to removing them properly if they were bothersome.

I would be inclined to return this.. "holes" are unacceptable & this is one of the many issues TRR has with
staff not being knowledgeable as to how to ticket silk scarves.

Thank you for all the responses! I agree with all said above and it has to go back. Too much money for the scarf with defects. It's not my first time getting a lemon from TRR, but the first time with a scarf. At least I can return it, minus the shipping.

Glad you have decided to return ,on principle it bugs me that your shipping fees will not be reimbursed for such a crass mistake.

OP hun I would also ask for TRR to refund the postage as the scarf is not as described/ damaged by their own fault.

I might try, I know it would be time consuming. I am out about $25 for the shipping 2 ways!

I would definitely return....and ask for shipping to be refunded also since they damaged the scarf with their tag.

In my experience they often refund costs when an item is truly not as described (which is, unfortunately, well...often)...it might be store credit but I'd try. They should send you a return label, certainly.

I know it's a desired scarf but as an OG you have quite a few options to seek out a pristine one
