We'll be in LA in a couple of weeks, and will hit the big name boutiques. But, I'm sure that there are some good consignment stores nearby that sell "H" and other top brands. Please share with us any recommendations you have.

We're also foodies, so if you have a favorite lunch/dinner place near Rodeo please let us know.

Fashionphile is near Rodeo. Decades Two is a bit further away, maybe 20-ish minutes northeast? of Rodeo.

Restaurants:

Steakhouses: Mastros, Cut, Wolfgang - all within a few blocks of Rodeo
Italian: Il Pastaio (great food, little more low-key than the other places listed here, reasonably priced), Scarpetta (in the Montage Hotel - best spaghetti ever)
French: Bouchon (on Beverly, adjacent to Rodeo)
Cupcakes: Sprinkles (on little Santa Monica blvd, few blocks away from Rodeo)

Hopefully when you arrive there will be more stock at Hermes- inventory is down because they have not received shipments in a while as this is when all of France goes on holiday. Things usually start rolling in early Sept. When I was in BH last week, not much f/w silk and no primo bags.

The Penninsula is a lovely place to stay and dine when in our fair city and just blocks away from Rodeo.

Wow, I couldn't have created a better food list! But I would add:

Macarons: Lette's (formerly Paulette's) to the list. One of the best macarons in the area (unless Bouchon's bakery has already opened but I hear that won't happen 'til Fall).

Japanese: For a VERY special dinner, I'd recommend Urasawa - It's omakase style meaning be prepared for 20+ courses and 3 hours of incredible dining. Memorable dishes include beef & foie gras shabu shabu, toro done many ways including seared or wrapped in monkfish liver with caviar, etc.

@ mssurgeon007 - Thank you. We'll have a car, so we will check out Decades soon after we arrive in LA

@BHmommy - We'll save fashionphile for after we hit the H store. Thank you so much. We normally eat at Cut in Vegas because we always stay at the Palazzo for meetings. My wife heard somewhere that BOA is good. I know it won't be Cut, but how does it compare to Mastros?

@toujours*chic - I'm not optimistic about stock since all of Europe is on Holiday in August. I'm sure this includes the Hermes craftsmen. As for hotels, I don't know where we will be staying yet. My decor company I use for my restaurants is flying me out to LA to visit their design center. They're booking my hotel for me.

@kohl_mascara - Macaroons!! It will be like being back in Paris!! We stay around the corner from Gerard Mulot in St. Germain. Also, my wife was an exchange student in Japan in high school, and I would love Urasawa. But, as crazy as it sounds, my wife does not like fish! She lived off of Doritoes and curry rice. And, our last 14 course meal was l'astrance in Paris and we were sick for two days from all that we ate!

BOA is good too, but it's more of a "scene-y" place for people-watching, as opposed to great steak IMO. mastros is more of a true steakhouse, with all the different cuts of meat and wine, etc. plus their seafood tower and lobster mash potatoes are not to be missed!

In total agreement about Mastro's. We just celebrated my son-in-law's birthday there and everything you mentioned is wonderful. I might add that if you go there, do not miss the truffle gnocchi and of course, the butter cake. Fantastic......okay, back to shopping!

oh yes! how did i forget the butter cake!:D

Sequels across the street from the Peninsula Hotel is a wonderful consignment boutique. Call before and tell the owner you're interested in Birkins and she will call and have them ready for you. For security purposes, they are not held in the store.

We stayed at the Beverly Hills Wilshire last week-end. Dining at The BLVD, part of the hotel, was quite good. And they are right at the corner of Rodeo and Wilshire, a very convenient location for shopping. :D

We're planning on the Beverly Wilshire also. I've downloaded Pretty Woman to watch on the plane. We're trying to pick some restaurants where we might see some celebrities. Kind of lame, but we rarely see people with a full set of teeth in AR. So, the idea of seeing the pretty people is exciting.

^^we get some of that here too! and some (high) percentage of the pretty people is... well, let's call it "artificial" but pretty nonetheless!:roflmfao:

hope you enjoy your stay in LA, the weather is super warm at the moment :beach:

The service at the Beverly Wilshire is awesome! Their concierge is a great source for restaurants guide among other questions. We love how attentive they were to our children. And it was fun seeing all the exotic cars parked alongside the hotel. Have a wonderful time in BH! :)

Is the inventory low each august? I was at the H store few month ago and was told inventory was low already. The SA told me they only received 1 Kelly bag this year. Is that possible?
