Hi everyone! I'm debating a pair of the Chypre sandals- I'm conscious of how super trendy the 'dad sandal' look is, but I like how comfy they are. Do you think these are a classic, or will they be out of style soon?

I'm hoping classic, since I finally just got a pair! I do think they tow the line though, and don't cross fully into ugly dad/ orthopaedic, which the Chanel do for me. Like 880 said, they are very much in the Birkenstock camp, so a long term, useful shoe for the wardrobe. I got mine to wear day in day out in the city, as the Oran's are not supportive enough for doing any kind of distance walking.

I actually kind of like them. Im not much of a flat sandal girl but the simple lines
give it a more clean and neat appearance, which I like.
And because of that simplicity I think the design is quite classic and has some longevity to it.
They don’t fit me well unfortunately, too loose for my narrow feet. But I appreciate them on others!

+1 on hoping they don't play out for a while! I like my Orans and Oasis as the widest part of my feet fit in the cutouts. However, I don't like driving in them.

I have Birkenstocks too (as I did 20+ years ago), but they always look a bit like s%$t after a few wears. Have some black Chypre on order right now- hoping they look crisper than the Birks.

Since Birkenstocks have been around forever, I think the luxury versions will last a bit as well.

I only buy what works with my style and taste irrespective of wether its 'in' or 'out'.
like @880 I tend to mix items I've owned for many years with current season designer.
So my advice to you is..If you love them and they work with your personal style buy them.
If anything I tend to 'mothball' items when they become too 'on trend' and then fish them out a couple of seasons later.

Try the birkenstock exquisite line (entirely covered in black leather, no exposed cork) or a designer collaboration  They are oddly less clunky on the foot, even the arizonas. They sell out too lol.

I gave up on chypres last year, but I may start looking again now that there is more supply in preparation for summer.

There’s about 532 days left for Chypre to be in style.

Jk. Buy something that you think you will get lots of use out of and love! If they are out of “style” and you still wear them, what will happen?

Dad sandal style shoes have been and will be around. They've only been made more “trendy” by recent designers.

I personally love them and I’ve been looking for Chypre sandals in black for a long while now lol. I love how comfortable the style is. While I do love the slimmer Oran, unfortunately it’s too short in length or too wide on top in a larger size for my feet

It is up to us to make the comfy-shoe-trend stay :)
And I think it will, because it is a trend, that brings pros.
For me, there is no way back :D

Btw: Are the chypre as comfy as birks?
Do they run tts?

I am a 37 birkenstock in general (some models i did try a 38, but my idea would have been a 37.5)
I am a chanel ballet flat and espadrille 38
manolo suede heel 37
prada, gucci loafer 37
louboutin, choo etc 37.5
hermes boot, sneaker 37.5
hermes oran or oasis 38
golden goose 37, I think
valentino rockstud 38, rock stud heel 37.5
YSL 37

There is a thread for Chypre sandals- some mod shots and size reviews :)
They used to run small so I had to whole size up, but this season ones seem to be tts.
They are wide and loose so pretty comfy compared to oran or other summer slides but the rubber sole does NOT offer any cushioning. Even though the sole has some shape to it- some support on aches - but very hard sole.

I have the fuzzy versions and although the non-fuzzies are more “timeless”, I still think I won’t get over these sandals for a long while! Also, it might be because I’ve always been a “dad sandal” type of gal my entire adult life so I may be a bit biased lol. I do love that these aren’t the typical design where it’s two straps across (like the chanel/Prada/dior versions) so it is definitely cuter and doesn’t scream “dad sandal” in my opinion. I have wider feet so these are definitely more comfortable than the orans!82934CD0-8031-4181-B0A1-4C0FF7C6CA32.jpegC2E4E973-3267-4347-B2E6-31E55760D0EF.jpeg
