Chanel looks great with tailored or shift dresses, i use mine all the time. You can tuck the chain in and use as a clutch or as a .shoulder bag for cocktail events. I don't see why anyone would think its only for jeans. It only became fashionable to wear with jeans a few years ago, when the trend was to juxtapose, formal and casual.

I don't have an Evelyn, but have the Chanel classic flap and the garden party and use the garden party much more. It goes with everything. I bought one of the divide and conquer inserts for it off etsy and it is perfection.

I like the Garden Party or Cabag and think they would make great everyday bags. Of course Chanel is classic and can transition more easily to night, but depending on which Garden Party you choose it could also work for dinner and some evening events, though not for very formal occasions.

I'd personally choose the Garden Party, as I find it the most versatile, understated, and useful, but there's no going wrong with whatever you decide!

Well the easiest thing to do (albeit more expensive) would be to buy two bags: the Evie and the classic flap which would fulfill casual and dressy options (I have both and I use my Evie practically every day for work, errands, travel and casual evenings out while the Chanel flap I reserve for date nights and more 'night on the town' occasions) but if your lifestyle is a bit more casual, I 'd go with the Evie 'cos it's a great all round bag. If you buy just the Chanel, you'd probably not carry it on a daily basis given that it's a tad more formal. Just my two cents.

I don't think of the bags fit the bill for all occasions. I love my flaps, but I've never used them for work. I need big totes for work. The Evelyn is a great everyday bag but it is not dressy. I vote Evelyn and then going with any other small bag you like for date nights. Work and errands happen everyday. Nights out tend to lessen in frequency.

I wonder since the Evelyn seems to be so popular, who carries it for work (and what kind of work they do.) Personally I find it a very casual bag, suitable for say, holidays or errands, but not work or nights out.

I carry it to work. But I don't need to carry papers, just my necessities and an iPad.

I've carried it to places where we would visit a supplier, and since my bag is actually one of the company colors, it works well with my company polo. Again, I'm only using my iPad rather than pen and paper, my companion usually has the official documents and I'm there to learn and take notes.

Then again, I'm in So Cal, and my company is very relaxed in dress code. So it's not for everyone, but if the company one works in is casual, then the Evelyne works perfectly.

I'd pick the Garden Party and Chanel. One fits an everyday work environment in which documents and such are needed, then the flap for parties and nights out.

Then again, I've carried my flap to work too, just hand carried my iPad lol.

I'm a lawyer but our office dress code is casual/jeans when not with clients. So the Evie works for me. If I wore business attire/a suit, I use my Chanel Cerf tote

Another vote for Chanel. If I plan to get JUST 1 more bag, n have to choose only those u listed above...I go for Chanel that can b dress up or down. Versatile bag with many options to wear the chain differently. G luck deciding.
