Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new bag and I'm trying to decide what to get. I'm looking to spend around $3-$5k. I want something that works as a shoulder bag and/or a cross body. I don't really go out much other than going to work, running errands, and the occasional date with my husband so I don't need anything too fancy but I still want something nice because I love bags and shoes!!

My top choices right now are the Hermes Evelyne, Garden Party, or Cabag, the Chanel Easy Carry or Classic Flap, or the Celine Mini.

Which of these do you think could make a good everyday bag and maybe be able to dress it up too? I'm leaning more towards the Hermes bags but idk!! I really want them all!!

Great choices and hard to pick just one. I have a Chanel Reissue, a Hermes Evelyne and a Celine Mini. The flap is classic but a bit dressier, IMHO. I love the Evelyne...it's a great crossbody as well as a bit sporty. The Celine Nano looks like fun but small.
If it were me I'd go with the Evelyne. It's a plain bag but looks cute with different bag charms.

I think it depends on your "everyday". I find my flaps a little annoying to get in and out of and would lean towards Evelyn or garden or other tote style for that. I find the Celine's pretty heavy but I've not tried on the smaller ones but that gives you option of arm or shoulder carry, which is nice. My go-to tends to be a tote style but if I travel I want crossbody option - I would take a look at what would fit your life best and pick based on that!

Thanks for the feedback. I think I've ruled out the Celine. I love the Chanel bags. That was my top choice initially. It would definitely be my go-to bag for nights out. It has such a classy and sophisticated vibe. And I love that I can wear it as a shoulder bag or a cross body.

I was sold on the Classic Flap until I walked into the Hermès store last week. The Evelyne bag is a nice casual cross body and I've seen someone replace the strap with a scarf and wear it as a shoulder bag. The GP seems the most versatile, being able to be dressed up or down. Agh! Tough decision!

Chanel is definitely more sophisticated. Which do you carry more often on more casual days?

Cute bag charm!! I love it. Same question. Between your Reissue and Evelyne, which do you find yourself grabbing more often on an average day?

I've decided against the Celine. I don't want anything too heavy so thanks for helping me rule one out! I could see the flap being a hassle on the go. Totes are more functional and not too dressy.

Maybe I should just get two bags!! Chanel for date night and Hermès for on the go!

You all make me think I should just get two bags.

LOL! The slippery slope!
My Reissue is on "vacation" in LA with my Goddaughter. At least she has places to use it...so I haven't seen it in a couple of years. I only used it for nights out anyway. Too dressy for daytime where I live...fashion hell!
That's why I love the Evelyne, it's not as dressy as the Chanel and better for my lifestyle. I think it all depends on what your use will be.
A lambskin/caviar (not as much) Chanel is more delicate a leather then the pebbled togo leather of the Evelyne for everyday use.
Maybe someone else can chime in about the durability.

You ruled out the Celine's - but I just tried on the mini and nano and the Nano is awesome for day/night use - not too small but not too big either - I thought the mini was huge for a "mini"...lol - anyway, I love my Chanel Boy bag but it is small for day use, I can either fit my continental wallet or my make up bag, not both, and forget about fitting a sunglass case....

Evelyn bags are great for day, but hard to see that going to a nice restaurant in the evening, sorry - just my humble opinion.

Evelyn is very casual, I really don't see how anyone can dress it up. ( after all it was designed for casual use round the stables....) celine is a little too the 'bag du jour,' -- Chanel on the other hand is the perfect chameleon bag. Perfect with destroyed jeans, a dress or a smart tailored suit. What more could you ask?
