I remember shopping at Bonwit Teller with my mom in the Troy, MI store when I was very, very young. I have such fond memories of that store. Such a shame it isn't around anymore. Even their shopping bags (white with purple flowers I believe) were beautiful. You have quite a treasure there!

Bonwit Teller was a fabulous store, and like Grace Kelly, a significant amount of my early years wardrobe came from the store, specifically the Philadelphia store and the suburban store outside Philadelphia in Jenkintown. You are very lucky to have that bag.

Bonwits in Jenkintown, that's where my mother and I went shopping. I remember driving up to the lot one day and hearing on the AM radio that Nat King Cole had just died. Funny this just brought back that memory.

It looks like one of the Balle de Golf versions (more than 1 version made) - a gorgeous bag

So glad I fpund this post! Several years ago, I found my very first Hermès bag; A 23cm Constance at a little hole in the wall antique store in MA. It is a dark blue Doblis (suede) bag with gold hardware, and, on top of all those rarities, it is also stamped with the Bonwit Teller Hermes-Paris stamp . The date stamp (a single R) dates it to 1962, and it's in near perfect shape. I won't dare say what I paid..(less than I paid for my TV at the time)...but I took one look at it, and without knowing if it was real or not.. (and honestly didn't even know exactly what it was until I researched it)...I had this gut feeling to buy it. So, against my husbands better judgement and advice, I spent my (our) last dollar to bring it home.
This was my first Hermès bag, and what started my love for the brand and name ❤️
