Hello All,

Can't decide which one to pick !!!
These 2 bags are currently listed on Fashionphile .
The "Etain" seems like a more practical choice but I can't look away from the "Deep Blue" . It is so pretty .

I am looking for one that I could use casual and also night out/parties.

Looking forward to your thoughts/comments etc.

Thank you !

This is such a personal preference as they are both lovely colors. What goes better with your wardrobe and you think you will get more use out of? Do you think it will be more of a every day bag or a going out bag? For going out, dinners parties etc I would probably chose something different entirely. Something smaller but that’s just me.

Another thing to consider is these are two different types of leathers. Do you have a leather preference? Epsom being rather sturdy but some don’t like Birkins in epsom saying they feel plasticky. I personally don’t have a problem with epsom.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either if you consider your needs and leather preferences. They are both beautiful colors.

I think you may have answered your own question

‘Etain seems like a more practical choice but I can't look away from the "Deep Blue" . It is so pretty’

I think your head is saying Etain but your heart is saying Deep Blue. I would go with your heart in this instance as both are neutral enough and can be worn with a variety of wardrobe colors.
Good luck with your decision!

Deep Blue is very beautiful. If you want to wear the bag in the evening, this color and leather would be my choice.

First, the etain, in my opinion, has a sportier vibe. I wouldn't pick a brownish/gray back for evening.

Second, I don't like Epsom except in a wallet. Epsom is a textured leather and stiff. It will hold it's shape over time. While the Epsom is a hardier leather, it's unnecessary in the sellier-style; this already is a structured bag.

Third, while it is a textured leather and will wear well, craftsmen who do repairs at Hermes have told me that Epsom can't be effectively touched up; once it shows signs of wear, any repair will show--badly. When I last brought an Epsom piece into Hermes for a spa treatment, I was explained the risks at length, then had to sign a waiver acknowledging that I had been advised of the risks and wouldn't complain if I don't like how it looked after a spa treatment.

Finally, and independent of color and leather, are you sure you want a 30cm Birkin as an evening bag? It's fairly large and what I would carry for daily use--for me the size is the equivalent of a tote.

This not a question for third party advice without the knowledge of your wardrobe (do you already have a Birkin?) and lifestyle.
BUT like you, I can't look away from the blue.
If this is your 'first' don't kid yourself that it will be your 'only'.
So the 'which makes your heart sing?' question is probably the most helpful - as long as you can already imagine using it with your existing wardrobe.

p.s. just accept bags can't really be universal
