Hi Ladies,

I'm new to the forum here, I'm on a mission to buy a NEW Birkin 35cm in togo with PHW, i'm not too fussy about the colour ( as long as its a neutral colour) because I know how rare they are at the moment to find. At the moment there's nothing in Australia, can anyone help with some advice in getting one from the US ? With the time difference I can't call the stores and i'm not sure if they will ship internationally. If they don't its not a problem as I have a friend who can pick it up and FedEx it to me...also I would much prefer to buy in the States as they are cheaper wheresas here in Aus its $11 500 for the 35cm and $11 200 for a 30cm.

Can anyone please help ??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

Also if the prices are the same in France I would consider buying from over there as well :-)

Hi ashleighjade, no store will sell you a bag over the phone, in fact, they will not even discuss bags with you.

If the bag must be new you should look at the list of trusted resellers though you will pay a premium. Otherwise your friend will have to chance his/her arm on finding one in a boutique for you.

Thanks for your reply, yes I found that out the hard way this morning after calling all the stores on the West Coast. Some were helpful with a NO we don't have any, while others wouldn't even tell me or discuss it over the phone...
I did locate one here is Aust but the price compared to the US is putting me off...its a 30cm Etoupe in Togo with PHW.....I really want a 35cm, not sure if I should wait it out and get what I really want when I go to the US next or just buy it now....decision decsions.....

Here's a thought, and I'm wondering about what you ladies think.

Would you buy an exotic Birkin in Australia if you are offered one that is very hard to get, like poussiere/beige rose/ficelle? Australian H prices are known to be crazy.

Hope to hear what you ladies think!

I would. If you are looking to buy a rare exotic, i presume you would have the ready funds, including the "foreign exchange" premium that is prevalent in Australia. At least I know BEYOND a shadow of a doubt the bag is authentic - rather than pay a premium to the seller and wondering what if....

If money is not an issue with you, I would...But you have to consider price is MUCH higher, and there might be additional cost to you for custom tax.

I remember(if I remember correctly:p..But I am pretty sure my numbers are close...), it was a quite long ago...when porosus croc. 35cm Birkin WAS $25000 USD (pretax) in US, it was about $35000 USD equavalent with at that time currency for porosus croc. Birkin 35cm from Australia Hermes...and there was custom tax...:push::sweatdrop:

I think you can get a tax refund for foreigners in Australia much like in Europe.

I would get it too if it was something I really liked.

You get 10% GST back if you're from overseas

but a Birkin 35cm, croc porosous, blue brighton, matte, ph is AUD $55,900.00 - as at April 08
(Thanks to Rox_rocks for this info)

Yep thats how expensive H in Australia. Nowadays they have birkins on display maybe due to cancelled orders since the rise of fuel price and interest rates. Everything becomes alot expensive here
