Thank you for all the wonderful advice and pictures too!! Unfortunately, I ended up missing the boutique because there was too much work to do and I couldn't shake the client. We ate at a really good restaurant -- Inox. I highly recommend it. It is near the Ritz Carlton.

I have to go back in a couple of weeks and will definitely hit the store(s).

gosh, this could go on all day. The address of the Hermes store on its web site says Wash, DC, but it has a 703 AC, which is Va. Now if you live in Northern Va, as I do, then you know that Vienna, Va was founded 20 years ago as an address for AOL, which was originally located there. Vienna, VA was and is an unincorporated village. There really is no comparison to Vienna/Wien, Austria, a Roman city over 1,000 years old, home to Klimt, Schiele and Freud, a city of wonderful culture, not a location of strip malls and one long Leesburg Pike. I use that term all the time with the staff at the Hermes in Fairfax Square and they dont take offense, so why should you?
Maybe you should visit the Hermes Boutique in Vienna/Wien, Austria and you will see what I and about 1 million other people mean.

< I use that term all the time with the staff at the Hermes in Fairfax Square and they dont take offense, so why should you?>

The staff at Hermes is far too civilized and polite to ever appear to be offended by a customer. I'm not the only person who finds your reference to a "fake" Vienna offensive. It puzzles me why you insist on using the term.

I've asked you very politely not to refer to Vienna, Virginia as "fake." If you have anything further to say to me, please take it to PM.

I do not live near a Hermes location, and I have purchased from this store over the phone. They are very polite and helpful. If you need an SA recommendation, just PM me!

as I said at the start, this could go on all day. no reason to pm you or anyone else, dont really have the time for that. This is just a purse forum, not the US Senate or the UN Security counsel, not a depating forum.
all the best to you and I hope you enjoy your Hermes items.

<There is only one Vienna, and that is in Austria, not Virginia. Lighten up, it is just an expression, no offense intended. I live in Northern Virginia so dont be offended. What really matters is that the store is wonderful and so are its SAs. Hope you enjoy shopping there and maybe you can make it to the lovely Hermes in Wien/Vienna and enjoy the view out on the Graben.>

Just because you say "no offense intended" certainly doesn't take the sting out of having ones town being called "fake." I have been a customer of the Vienna, Virginia Hermes since it opened, and yes, the manager and staff are truly wonderful. But, I doubt they'd think it was amusing to have someone insist the location of their boutique is "fake."

I have quite a healthy sense of humor, but I still take offense at the use of "fake" when describing Vienna, Virginia.

Doesn't seem to me as if you have a healthy sense of humor - but maybe you should think about it this way: how are the (european) Viennese supposed to feel about some other "city" beeing called that. Besides, Susanvon wasn't calling the boutique or it's employees "fake" - she was only referring to the location.

Didnt know that we had so many "Esquires" on this sub-forum. Love, Love the Hermes Store in the "fake" Vienna, not the real Vienna, even so, it is a wonderful store. Have been shoping there since it opened in 1994! Been through 2 upgrades with them and it gets better each time. Trina and her team are the best and will track down any item for you, regardless of the cost. Chef Geoff's from downtown DC, Michelle eats there all the time, is opening up next week. The Prime Rib is always good for a fall back.
Hope you come back often and keep billing those clients all you legal divas!

Yum.. Chef Geoff is expanding. I haven't been to the one on 14th street in many years... That H store always has the lovliest and most enticing windows. Actually, the window at that very store is what peaked my interest in Hermes. I was headed to LV, which was closed, and on my way back to the car I looked over and saw the most vibrant and beautiful orange bag, which I now know was a Victoria. To this day, I think about the sight of that bag.. Funny thing is I was always afraid to go in because I knew nothing about the brand and thought they might be snobby...:hrmm: Now after a couple acquisitions, I feel prepared to visit the store. lol

When you say Michelle are you referring to the first lady? It would be awesome to run into her in a restaurant! Thx.

I don't know when you moved to Northern Virginia, but Vienna has been around longer than 20 years. I am a native Northern Virginian and the town of Vienna has been around at least as long as I can remember. I won't say how old I am, but I am definitely over 20. ;)

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting Vindobona, but the Hermes store there is on the list.

I am sure that no one on this forum will confuse Vienna, VA with the city in Austria that probably predates the Roman encampment.

Michelle who?

^amen lulilu! i have had a conversation regarding specific individual calling my home Vienna, as a "fake" vienna on this forum and numerously when I say I feel offended, she kept insisting that it was a joke and told me to "lighten up".

People should have more respect of each other here, especially there are more than 1 person finding your joke not humorous.

If Vienna VA is "fake," then so are thousands of US cities/towns that have European counterparts. Rather a silly/snobby remark IMO.

And so they sort of are, but not in the sense of "bad" - they are just not "original".

Anyway, in this case we are speaking of Vienna, Austria (my hometown) and the reason why Susanvon is calling yours "fake" is because she travels to "the real" one several times a year doing pro bono work and enjoying our european culture.

But if it makes you feel better, I'll ask her to just refer to our city as "the real" one and not call yours "fake" anymore. :smile1:

It is quite clear she travels to Vienna, Austria often. It would make me (and, I believe, the people who live in the US Vienna) feel better if she referred to it as the Austrian one, which is more accurate and not condescending.
