Help! Would you keep this messed up Rogue?

I ordered the Rogue with Quilting and Rivets in black during PCE last month and I’ve had to exchange it twice so far. The 1st bag had a large section of “wavy” leather on the front. The sides were badly creased and the zipper was a mess on the 2nd bag. I was really hoping that the 3rd time would be a charm, but this bag has flaws too. It’s the best one yet but the left zipper doesn’t operate smoothly and there are copper colored spots on 2 of the feet where the finish is missing, example below.

I could use your help with deciding what to do next. Should I try to suck it up and keep this bag, knowing I may sell it down the road? Should I try to exchange it for the 3rd time, if Coach would even allow it? Should I just give up and get a refund? Are there any other options I haven’t thought of?

What has happened to Coach??? I’ve been completely loyal to this brand for 15 years and I’ve had better experiences buying pre-owned bags from the Bay. I am beyond disappointed and I’d really appreciate your input.

The feet wouldn't bother me to much. In my experience you don't really look at the bottom of your bag to often and the black copper feet have a tendency to chip. I have an all black swagger and had issues with the first one. When I exchanged it there were only 2 bags left to choose from, one with a weird patch of leather and one with chipped feet. I got the one with the chipped and in all honestly it hasn't once crossed my mind since I brought it home (until now)
As for the zipper there's a ton of methods to help get them to run smoother from pencil lead to a tiny rubbing of wax. I'm sure the store could help you with that part of it.
If the bag is sold out you could always see if theyll be willing to discount it further.

One note on the zipper: I find that one zipper pull on each of my 2 Rogues runs MUCH more smoothly than the other. There is something about the design of the two way zipper that makes one a little grabbier. I make the zippers meet on one side and only use one to open it, if that makes any sense.
Yes, I havenoticed the problem with my Togues as well.

If you aren't 100% in love with the bag, I would either try to exchange it again or get a refund and get a different style. Coach isn't cheap and if you are paying for the bag, you want something you will be happy with.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I feel better knowing that the zippers are fussy on Rogues in general and that there are things you can do to improve it. Though I no longer have a FP store in my state that I could go to for assistance. I’ve spent the weekend with the bag close by and decided that I truly love the style and I would be sad if I couldn’t have it. So I plan to call JAX and see what we can work out. Hopefully a reveal is in my near future!

I agree. If you aren’t completely in love with the bag, return it. If they question you on the times you have returned the item be upfront and tell them what’s going on.

Thanks for your input. I did decide to exchange the bag because I just couldn’t get over the feet. They proceeded to send me the wrong bag entirely so I had to return that as well.

Yesterday I finally received the replacement (my 5th bag) and unfortunately it is the worst one yet. The leather on the entire left side of the back of the bag is all “wavy” for lack of a better term (see photo). I had been working with a supervisor and when I informed her about the condition of this bag she decided to be done with me. No more exchanges, just a refund, and no incentive of any kind to try to keep me as a customer.

Words can’t describe how disappointed I am with Coach both for the despicable way I was treated and for the pathetic quality of a $1,000 handbag. I’ve carried Coach exclusively since 2004 and I’m feeling lost about where to go from here.

Wooow....really? That’s a shame they would do that. You are giving them your money and they shouldn’t get defensive when you question the quality of craftsmanship of their products...especially after seeing the same issue with not just one bag. If they’re asking so much money for a product, quality should be reflected....

Yep, really. I’m still somewhat in disbelief. Right now I would be happy to have that bag with the dinged up feet! I had wanted to hang onto that bag, order a 2nd, and keep the better of the 2 but their CS talked me out of it. Kicking myself for listening to them. I still love this bag and I am sad about the whole situation. Why would they not offer a discount toward a future purchase?

Sorry but I don't really see the waviness... Rogues (especially the regular size as that seems to be) get soft and slouchy quite quickly. The waviness would be completely hidden by the slouch in about a week.
By your return history, seeing 5 replacements in a short span, I can see why the supervisor might not want to work with you anymore. It is up to the store's discretion unfortunately.

I wasn't trying to be harsh. A refund is exactly what OP got. By her comments, she wrote that she does not have a Coach boutique in her state, hence she was working directly with JAX and with a supervisor as well. Coach has free shipping & returns in the States, right? So if after 5 replacements (and shipping both ways, on Coach's dime; complimentary gift packaging if OP requested it too) the supervisor can see that OP will not be happy with the quality of the bag, and can no longer keep sending bags to her that she will have a high likelihood of rejecting.

It's not Coach's fault, there are many people who are happy with their bags, plus as leather is a NATURAL material it will have natural variations and five times should be enough to pick one. If OP expects that she will have unlimited replacements (or even that she is entitled to a discount for a future purchase - why?) then Coach is not the company for her.

TPFers in the other forums have moved away from LV because of declining quality control, away from YSL because of declining leather quality, etc etc

It's completely up to you what you are willing to accept in a brand. OP isn't wrong to want what she wants, she just can't have it from Coach, and shouldn't be upset when Coach is telling her that they can't live up to her standards.
