Hi All, first post!

I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to post. Here is the dillemma - I really want a 35cm in Rasin(favorite colour) with PHW. My store will be getting in a raisin clemence in the next month or so, and I could wait and get that bag OR place an SO for a raisin chevre with violet lining/stitching. I have a chevre long kelly wallet that will be used with the bag, which is why i was leaning towards the chevre in the Birkin. However, I keep reading that although raisin is a basic colour, a SO in chevre might get declined. Can anyone offer on opinion on this? Which one would you get?

Thank you for your help!

Hi, Dagny! If I had to choose between raisin clemence and chevre, I'd go with chevre. But I don't think chevre is available for order right now and most likely not in a large size Birkin. It's worth asking, though; the worst they can say is no, and then you get the raisin clemence when it comes in!

Depends Dagny on whether you've been invited to place an SO. Even if you have, 35 in Cherve will most likely be declined (not many big goats at the moment). But as Ouija Board wisely says... you can but ask.

Big difference in those bags though... cherve will hold it's shape and stand up tall, clemence will eventually start to fall over under it's own weight. You need to decide if you like floppy or stiff. Worth noting that the clemence bag will be heavier too.

Ouija/Pyrexia: exactly what i was thinking! the director of our hermes store approved the chevre order, but i am not sure when she will hear that it was approved by Paris. the SA said 2-3 months???!!!

Handy: i was also leaning towards chevre because i have a 30cm graphite togo which is already getting slouchy despite my only having purchased it in April. I am also short(5'5/120lbs) and the 30 is perfect for day, wanted the 35 for travel. is chevre durable(i love how the raisin shows up in CdC- very vibrant)?

Thank you all!

Thank you all!

I guess all that's left for you to do is cross your fingers really hard ;) Sending good vibes your way - I hope Paris says yes!

Chevre in 35cm would be considerably lighter than Togo/Clemence. The skin is pretty hardy. As with most leather, take good care of it, and it would last for years.

I totally agree with Handybags. SOs for chevre above 30cm are already being declined in FSH. So even if your store takes your order, it will be rejected in Paris because the skins are simply not available.

Raisin is significantly different in clemence than in chevre. It is much more purple and stiffer in chevre, hence more regal. It is sexy and laid back in clemence. However, as far as I know, raisin is not going to be offered next season.

If you want your 35cm raisin for sure, I'd say go for clemence.

If an SO has been offered to you, definitely take it. Not everyone gets one!

What? I thought as a client you request a custom and they make it?

Strange I was discussing SO's today with an SA and I was left with a very bleak outlook - am I completely approaching this from the wrong end of customer service and/or demand-driven economics?

Can one not request an SO? Do we have to be bestowed one? I don't often like to wait for an invitation when I want something lol...

--> confused?!
