Wow, that's a long list you have, must have done alot of homework to create this thread.

I think you might need a bag which can at least fit an A4 size file??? So may be a tote or convertible might be more appropriate. The LV Petit Noe is definitely not a good choice.

What about the Bonnie Canvas Tote? Funky & cute with a hefty price tag though.

Honestly, I'd get a coated canvas Heritage stripe tote if I wanted a bookbag.

The ergo satchel (or any satchel) and Carlys wouldn't work well, IMO

Depending on your major and schedule, I'd use a backpack. Not exactly fashionable, but it'll save your back. Especially if you have a large campus to trek all over.

haha its just that i like the carly's look when carried n the large one is certainly roomy.. but i'm afraid its too big for me.. hmm what about the petit noe? its not large enough for A4 size file?

I agree with this...I went through a backpack a year because the books and files, etc were just so heavy they would wear the bottoms away, even the expensive backpacks with leather-reinforced bottoms! I would suggest investing in a good backpack and maybe a cute clutch to keep your essential items in (ID, money, keys, phone, etc) so if you just want to grab the clutch for lunch or whatever, you'll be set. I drove to and from campus, and if I stopped at the grocery store or something on the way, I'd just take in the smaller clutch and leave the backpack in the car. I know the backpacks aren't fashionable, but I think you need to be more concerned about function here. Unless you are going to a fashion institute, a fancy school bag just screams Freshman, at least it did on my campus.

I agree with the "use a backpack" crowd. If I'd have ruined one of my beautiful Coach or other designer purses while I was in college like I ruined my backpacks I'm pretty sure I would have died.

If you're really anti-backpack, get a messenger bag. There are pretty feminine ones out there. The problem with a messenger bag, however, is that you're lugging around pound upon pound of books on one shoulder at a time.

If you're really anti-anything specific for school, get a Vera Bradley. Don't ruin a purse that cost you several hundred dollars!

The shape of the Petit Noe is definitely not suitable as a book bag. I cannot imagine your bigger size files or books sticking out of the bag & you can't string tied the bag at all.

90046 has a good suggestion on the heritage stripe tote, sturdy & worry free coated material.

If you're not carrying too many books, but more like folders and clipboards, how about the Madison Magazine Tote? It looks smart and holds your A4 paper easily.

I agree with the backpack suggestions. Get one of those Obus Ergo bags with the hefty clips and strap tighteners. I've used them in unversity and they've never let me down--even when I put them in the basket of the back of my bike while travelling. I would totally die if I stuck a LV or Coach bag in my basket especially in a rainstorm.

If you are going to put this bag thru the ringer, I don't think many of the bags on your list are suitable. JMHO.
The only bag I think I'd consider using as a book bag would be the coated canvas Heritage Stripe tote, they are showing up at outlets. They are durable, easy to clean and have a GREAT strap drop!!!

I've been getting into more of the leather Coach bags versus the signature lately, but I did buy a HS tote at the outlet about 8 weeks ago and LOVE it!!! It's a total staple to my collection that I'll never be without. I got the large in khaki/gunmetal and it was $139.99 plus tax and worth EVERY PENNY!!!

You could also maybe go with a gallery tote in either leather or signature, if you DO go with signature I'd try and go with black on black so that it won't show stains very easily. I'll picture both of the bags I'm suggesting below!!!

If you decide to go with Coach at all for a school bag, keep in mind that you are going to have to treat it with kindness and they aren't actually made for book bags so you'll also need to be prepaired for some additional wear and tear that you wouldn't get when carrying it just as a handbag!!!

I vote regular backpack too! Bookbags just get abused. I wasn't in college that long ago, and it was very fashionable to use an oversized purse as a bookbag. I mean, it's a cute idea and I envyed those who could pull it off, but I know those girls were aching after carrying their psychology books all the way across campus. I opted for a regular backpack. If anything, I would use a large tote bag for a bookbag, but even then, the corners are gonna wear and pretty soon your stuff will be falling through the bottom. How about a cute messenger bag? They have some really fashionable ones these days and you can maybe dress it up with a Coach scarf or something just to have that edge.

But yes, I definitely agree that a cute accessory like a capacity wristlet would be great to separate your essentials from all your books and school supplies. You can bring that out of your backpack and still look cute for lunch or between classes.

Ditto all of this!

Can I make a suggestion? I know you want a COACH, but the LV neverfull can take a beating and the mm and gm sizes hold a ton. Some people say that overfilling leads to the straps hurting ones shoulders, but for college you really only need one decent notebook, pens, pencils, and a few little requirements for certain classes (my college doesn't make us carry around textbooks I don't know if that is the case everywhere). However, if you are strapped for cash then the COACH outlet suggestion was a good idea I would just add to buy more than one so that you can circulate and decrease the chance of destroying one bag through wear and tear. Good luck!

check out the Delphine. It is huge but hangs flat against the body. The strap can be adjusted for shoulder or cross body. You can still find them on eBay - they are similar to the Sophie but much larger and a little flatter. I have the patchwork Delphine and absolutely love it for everyday use. It gets many compliments

I'd suggest something from the Heritage Stripe line. Either the large tote, or multifunction tote (baby bag). The coated canvas makes it easy to clean, it has pockets on the outside for phone/keys.

Whatever you decide, just make sure you get a little pouch to keep your pens/pencils in so they do not leak or mark up the lining!
