Thanks for the response. Does this mean you would prefer the two tone on a regular face or just all steel on a regular face?

I see what you mean but I just love the diamond markers. It looks cleaner to me (less busy). Does that make sense?

I prefer the two tone (rose/steel) on the regular face with the Roman Numerals. Overall, I prefer the Tank Series without the diamond markers.

I understand about the dial looking less busy with the DMs but it takes away from the look of the Tank style IMHO. Now, DMs on a Rolex is classic for me :)

Hi ladies! It is our 10 year wedding anniversary and hubby has agreed to buying me a watch. I have narrowed it down to two Cartier Tank watches, one a steel one with diamond markers and the other a two tone (rose gold) one with diamond markers. Which would you choose and why? Oh and the two tone is $2k more...if you like it more do you think it's worth the extra price? Thanks!View attachment 2789909View attachment 2789910View attachment 2789912
I don't mind mixing metals but don't like any watch in a two tone so I'd go for the other, I also think in the long run it's more classic.

Hmmm...thanks for the feedback. Now I am thinking about the regular face with the two tone...this is such a tough decision. It'll be my only Cartier so I want to be 100% happy with my decision.

I tend to prefer the "classic" version for a watch, so it is Tank with Roman Numerals for me... I like the diamond markers more on other watches, e.g. Rolex.

About two tone or all steel: I had to do this tough decision as well. Now I own a Cartier Santos Demoiselle in two tone and love her to bits.

You definitely need to be happy with your decision!! It's a huge purchase! As someone who "knows" cartier, the 2 tone with the diamond marker has more credibility. Cartier doesn't put diamonds in stainless unless it's on the dial. And there a couple stainless models that have diamond bezel but the bezel underneath that you can't really see is gold. So if you know cartier and know they predominately put diamonds on the models with gold it gives that piece a double whammy. Not only does it have have gold and not just stainless but it has diamonds as well. Just adds extra class in my opinion.

This thread is two years old but since you have the same dilemma here is my take: I love two tone, but on this two tone, the two tone is on the bracelet only and not on the watch bezel itself, so the effects of the two tone is NOT appreciated. IMO the two tone tank is too subtle for the cost difference and therefore not worth it. The two tone on the rolex and the cartier Roadster (now no longer avail) is pretty and the gold ornate on the bezel around the watch is much prettier. In this case the tank face is all steel, and I wouldn't even bother as I would feel cheated of the two tone gold.

You make a good point. The other problem is the general feeling is that that diamonds take away from classic look of the tank, do people feel this is still the case because I LOVE the diamond dial and still want a classic watch people recognise!
I think you can get either and it would still be a classic. However, I did purposefully go to a well-regarded jeweler to buy a used all YG TF with no diamonds because I so wanted that clean look, esp for the workplace.
