Help! My turenne pm is about 5 months old and I typically wear it cross body as it has begun to patina I have noticed this damage on the inside top handles. I am wondering if it it from rubbing against the bag when I’m wearing it cross body. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I take it back to the store to see if they will replace the handles?

I wore mine crossbody almost every work day for 3 years straight & mine are totally fine. I wear my bag lower & it bounces around. I walked at least 30 minutes a day commuting in all weather conditions with it like that. Still no wear at all to the handles. Is it just on the side that hits your body? I don’t think this is normal at all.
Yes! It is only on the side that is against my body and the damage is fairly uniform/similar on each side of the handle which is why I think it’s from rubbing against the bag! Ugh I’m just so disappointed I feel like this shouldn’t be happening but I’m also scared they will say it’s my fault
Well it doesn’t hurt to have them look at it - especially at only 5 months. It’s meant to wear crossbody so it’s not like you did anything wrong!! I’ll check mine more when I get home but I know there’s no wear like that.
Thanks so much! I’m going to take it in to the store and see what they say. I don’t think handles are very expensive to replace so if I need to do it I want to do it before The bag patinas more and they look uneven
May I ask some questions? Are your handles up that way while wearing crossbody as shown in the picture? And sweat? Also from the look of the vachetta you pretty much been wearing those 5 months straight? Looks it got a little wet to me - maybe sweat. I mean by all means you can take it in but it does not look like anything LV will just replace - especially with it being only one side (but stranger things have happened). I would say if it is going to cost you to fix I would wait a bit and just use the bag. I mean you would need to replace both handles?
Thanks. I always make sure the handles are down and if I place my finger on the bottom of the damage it line up perfectly with the bottom point of the tear drop on the bag which is why I think it’s from the handle rubbing up and down when I wear it cross body. And now because those areas have worn down they have turned darker when I wiped the bag. I have only wiped it down 2times with damp white cloth both times I have wiped it clean have been after using th bag at an airport and just wanting to wipe of any airplane grime or airport germs. And your right If lv won’t do anything I probably should keep the handles longer before replacing them. Thanks again. This is my first lv and I’ve tried to baby it but I’m also so excited about it I carry it most days. But I don’t work so there are a lot of days it doesn’t leave the house at all.
Alright - I have to eat my words!! I DO have wear in the same spots as yours only on the side that’s against my body. I’ve just never noticed. It’s smooth to the touch and doesn’t bother me at all. I have no idea how long it’s been that way? I guess I’m not that observant about my bags lol. I just get them & use them. Now if a handle fell off or something I would notice! Here’s pics showing the same type of wear. I think you’ll be fine. You can replace them down the line if need but I’d just let it be for now & happily keep enjoying your bag!
Hey! I took my bag in to my luv store today! My bag is about 15 months old now but they agreed to replace the handles for free! But couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t happen again if I chose to wear it cross body I’m torn I love this bag for its cross body easy to use for a mom with young kids. But I don’t want to ruin the handles again
That’s good they replaced them! I honestly never would have even noticed on mine if I hadn’t checked. I say just use & enjoy your bag. My handle still has that wear but it doesn’t impact the bags functionality & no one knows it’s there but me.
Mine kept getting bigger and it was starting to darken/collect stains around the abrasions. When I get the bag back I plan to only carry it by the handles until they Have patina in hopes the leather may be a little more resistant to the rubbing and so that if it does happen again it will blend better
The rubbing is on the inside part facing the bag when the handle is down, not the outside part facing clothing. It’s from wearing it crossbody & is only on the handle close to the body. The handle rubs against the bag when you walk causing wear. Mine is smooth to the touch, hasn’t cracked at all & honestly doesn’t bother me.
