Some things to consider are: Do you actually like the mini K? Would you wear it? If you were offered b25 tomorrow, could you afford to buy that as well? In my experience you won’t be satisfied until you get the bag you really want.. however once you do obtain the bag you want, you will appreciate the mini K more! A few years ago I purchased a bag I wasn’t 100% happy with and regretted it but didn’t resell.. fast forward a few years I got the bag that was on my wish list and now I appreciate the other one more and am happy I kept it!

Hi all,

Recently I got my very first quota bag while traveling. It is a mini Kelly in etoupe, PHW, and epsom leather. The thing is, I actually wanted a B25 but unfortunately, I wasn’t allocated one. Hence, I was offered a mini Kelly instead. I’ve always had a preference for GHW but this was the only one they had and I was flying out the next day. Anyway, fast forward to today, I am seriously contemplating trading my mini Kelly with a Birkin25 from a reseller. I’m considering the colors Chai, Gold, Etoupe with GHW. I haven’t decided if I prefer the sellier or the retourne yet but that isn’t very important. I would like some advice from you guys. Should I do a trade for a B25 or should I keep the mini K? My fear is that since it’s very difficult to get a mini K in store, I may not be able to get another one. Please help! I’m in such a huge dilemma!

If money is no object, keep this and wait until you get offered a B25. At that point, if you know in your heart for sure that you don't really like the MK, you can let it go without regrets.

If money is not an issue, keep the mini kelly and wait for a B25 to be offered at your store. In the beginning, the impulse to acquire is just overpowering but patience is key. You might regret going through the trade down the road. And with time, you will get the bags that you want, and more!
+1. These bags are harder and harder to get. I sold K28 in the what I call momentary lapse of reason to fund something “more suitable”. I wish I had her with me today!
I’d keep MK, potentially “swap” for a different colour/hardware.

I'd easily choose B25 over MK, I hope no one takes offense but the MK seems very much like a toy to me, whereas the birkin is a beautiful bag with intricacies that the MK simply doesn't have. Retail, B25 is close to double the MK price, which speaks volumes. So as long as the birkin is the color/hardware I want, it would be an easy decision for me.
What is their selling price of the birkin 25 chai they are offering?

Curious as to what you mean by this? The actual retail price difference between the two bags is about $2000, depending on exact leather specs and is mostly due to the additional material needed for the larger bag as well as the birkin‘s interior zipper pocket. Regardless, I’m curious how that would relate to resale worth? Most resale H bag prices are almost entirely determined by rarity and desirability with little to no regard for original sticker price. A rose Sakura B25 will likely be listed for 3x retail while an otherwise same spec orange B25 would be lucky to even make a profit despite the same retail price Similarly, an Epsom Noir K20 seems to be worth double an orange B25 while a Togo Noir B25 is likely worth double an orange K20. It’s all just the particulars, not much the retail price, imo, but would love to hear more.

Good question - we can give you some input, but at the end of the day it's your call to keep or trade.

Personally, a MK and a B25 are two completely different bags with different purposes..

My two cents on this are: keep the MK (not because everyone wants one or it's hard to get, but simply because it's versatile. It can be worn crossbody and is perfect as a formal and informal bag) and start hunting for a B25, sometimes we don't appreciate right away what we have and realize only later on, perhaps when it's already too late, that what we had was actually indeed very much appreciated.
