AN UPDATE: After the exchange of several emails, the Chanel boutique in Hamburg finally agreed on exchanging the bag for a new one, as well as arranging and paying for the shipping both ways.

I am happy with this solution, although I remain disappointed with their initial handling of my enquiry.

As it turns out, my mom is actually driving to Antwerpen in Belgium next week, and so she would be able to go to the store, bring the bag and exchange it for a new one. This way I will have the bag with me in no time, and also we can make sure that I actually get a brand new one.

I hope that I won't experience any further issues. Quite frankly I'm getting sick of it by now. I definitely had higher expectations for a brand like Chanel.

Thank you so much for all of your replies! Without your affirmation, I think I may have settled for less and not stood my grounds.
Oh, that's sounds good of becoming a new bag.Yes, it's so disappointed how they handle your excange, you really have to fight for it. I heard that the quality of a few high end Brands going down, but the SA's have to deal with it and replace items. That's so much money you've spend. I'm not thinking of getting a Chanel bag from Hamburg anymore.I had visited this Boutique once, I often go to Hamburg for shopping, it's an 2 hours drive, but I don't have any experiences with Chanel Boutiques exept at Dubai Airport. Witch Boutiques can be recomended? I prefer the german ones, because I'm from Germany.

Update: So my mom got home from Antwerpen with my new bag and it's gorgeous. The chains on the bag are done way nicer and it turns out this bag was made in France opposed to my two previous bags that were made in Italy. It makes me wonder if the quality of the bag differs according to where they're made.
I hope I won't experience any problems with this new bag but this one does look a lot nicer, especially the chains that are properly closed so there are no gaps like there were with the two other ones. Clear difference!

Congrats on your perfect brand new bag. I'm very happy for you and that all is well. Made in France is not necessarily more superior than made in Italy. We just need to inspect the bag more carefully and don't let the boutique excitement " blur our eyes ". Now go out and wear that beautiful bag and don't let it sit in your closet. Enjoy it my dear.

I bought my Chanel Caviar jumbo as Preloved bag. I didn't notice this issue when the time I receive the bag. When the time I clean up the bag , I found out these on my Chanel bag strap hole, try to clean it with soft cloth but failed, called into Chanel Boutique KLCC Kuala Lumpur, they advised me to sent the bag to them, according to the SA , that is common issue of Malaysia Chanel bag owner, the hardware are oxidized due to humid weather of Malaysia. Hardware can be replaced but charges are unknown yet until they check my bag condition.
It's hard to believe that the hardware easily get oxidize as this is Chanel! The Diana flap bag that I purchase that made in year of 1991-1994, it's hardware are almost prefect, no sign of oxidize issue on the ringlet at all! I got to say that I am totally in love with vintage Chanel now!

There are issues with bags made in France and bags made in Italy...what bothers me is they get past quality control and the SA in the store is willing to sell it. At the very least Chanel should immediately arrange to get the bag back and replace it with a perfect one. I am glad this finally worked out for you but it certainly should not have taken so long for Chanel to do the right thing!
