Help Picking Out a Birthday Gift

My mom's 50th birthday is coming up and she wants to get a new bag with a matching wallet. She has a pretty good idea of what she wants, but she still wants some suggestions. She wants a leather satchel in black in a larger size. She doesn't like gold hardware either. We were at the mall today and stopped in the Coach store while we were there. The SA showed her the Swagger Carryall with Matte Black hardware along with the matching wallet.

She liked the look of the bag and the size (she thought the Swagger 27 was too small for her), but she is concerned about how the Matte Black hardware will hold up. She said that the display model had scratches on the hardware and there was some silver showing underneath (I wasn't close enough to see for myself). If the Matte Black hardware doesn't hold up well then she may want to get a bag with gunmetal or silver hardware. Do they make a black Swagger with silver or gunmetal hardware? (other than the rivets. She doesn't want the rivets either, thinks they are too trendy). If anyone knows of any other satchels that may fit her needs, please let me know about those too.

Does she have a problem shopping on eBay? There were one or two Swaggers that came with gunmetal hardware and some with silver hardware. They are discontinued from Coach, but can be found in secondary markets......a lot are still brand new with tags still attached. I showed her the pictures and she likes the Swagger better than the Rogue satchel. She is fine with shopping on eBay too. The wallet that matches the matte black Swagger was pretty expensive at the Coach store ($250 since it is not included in the summer sale), but I found one on eBay for $149.

When I went to the Coach store, I also wished the Black swagger was made with silver. It seemed that the only black swagger made with silver hardware is the swagger 21, which is the smaller smaller size. The SA told me that is a very popular style. I'm really hoping Coach will see that more people want black bags with silver hardware and make that bags like that in the future.

I also found this black bag with silver hardware but it has signature print. Would she go for this?

If I recall correctly, there was also a larger black Swagger in smooth leather with gunmetal hardware. It's no longer available on coach.com but you might be able to find it on eBay or another website that sells Coach models that are a little bit older. Try websites such as Lord and Taylor or 6pm.com or Zappos.

I think mercer is good option, i have one in small size and its beautiful and structured too..

I have the first bag that you showed, the black Swagger with black matte hardware, and it has worn just beautifully. No scratches or wearing away on the hardware at all. It's a great bag!!
