I looked at Kate's rings. They're gorgeous. And, Missy, I like your jewelry, too - you're Jewelry VI? Very pretty.

Yes they are gorgeous! I'm obsessed with them haha!

Yeah I am :) and thank you! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to concentrate on hehe It's headed to 14k gold but it's really expensive to carry if it doesn't sell

Could you perhaps take a photo and get a local jeweler to make it for you? That way you can ask to see the diamonds in person first. I've done this before and it's turned out well...

Karman, that's a great idea. As a matter of fact, I just got back from a local jeweler. I think I am going to have him make it. I feel bad, though. The Etsy jeweler is REALLY nice and it is her design. Having never made a custom piece of jewelry before, I assume this is sort of a common practice. It's just hard for me to have no recourse if I'm not happy with it because there's no return policy. At least with the local jeweler, I'll be involved with the process.

That's perfect! In the end, you have to do what's right for you. I'm sure if she had a good return policy, you would have gone with ordering from her. But ordering jewelry (especially expensive high quality jewelry) is so nerve wracking, and a huge commitment and risk if you don't know the designer.

To be fair, I wouldn't say her design is 100% unique (although I repeat, that brushed finish is absolutely beautiful). 4 years ago when I was shopping for a wedding band I considered a custom design that looks just like her thicker band... except mine would have had a little indent at the top of the metal so that my engagement ring could sit flush next to it ;) I saw the pave band I have now, except it was a normal one without an indent, fell in love with it, and had one custom made to fit against my engagement ring.

You're right. There really aren't many totally original designs. And, when there are, they're often copied. The jeweler I saw today showed me some bands with some beautiful finishes, so I'm sure he'll be able to do a good job. (One band he showed me was an estate piece that he put a brushed finish on - it was gorgeous.) The one thing we didn't discuss today was the additional pave band. My husband and I are going to go over there on Saturday, so I'll bring it up then. Thank you for your input! I'll keep you posted.

I can't wait to see how it turns out! I checked out that seller on Etsy too--I am in trouble!

NIXIN? Her stuff is gorgeous! I'd buy one of her less expensive pieces in a heartbeat.

Yes! She has gorgeous stuff...Very dangerous. She has a similar dangling-diamond rose gold ring and a horizontally set emerald-cut diamond necklace that I'm eyeing from another seller. And tiny bezel diamond studs too!

I've spent way too much time on Etsy lately...I need a money tree :p

So, I went a different direction! Decided to have my engagement ring diamond reset. So happy with the results! Similar to the Etsy band. I'm so happy!

The center diamond is .71. There are 18 pave diamonds - 9 on each side. 18 is an important number - it's the date of our anniversary (March 18) it's also a good luck number in Judaism.

Thank you for all of your input! It was very helpful.

Congrats! It is gorgeous and very modern. The brushed gold really makes the diamond and the bezel stand out. It is very architecturally interesting. And of course I adore yellow metals (always have) so I think your new ring is so cool.

Thank you! The jeweler was amazing. He really listened! It's exactly what I wanted. I decided to stick with yellow because my original band was yellow. I'm so glad I did!
