Thank you so much for all your replies ladies! I still haven't decided yet.

In my heart I'm leaning towards Capucines, but my main concern is that it won't be easy to clean or repair if needs to. I have emailed a couple of bag spa/leather expert for advice on whether or not this leather can be repaired/restored, and one of them have said that this type of finish is hard to work with and belongs to one of the more difficult category. He is highly trusted in US and if that's what he is saying, I don't think the Australian bag spa will do better than him but let's see what their responses are.

I am so sorry to hear that slayer, $10k is a lot of money for a bag (or anything in fact) and I would be very upset too if I were you. Do you mind (if you still have the bag) share some photos on the gouge marks? It will help me decide on whether to take on the risk of purchasing the capucine..
FYI, the shoulder strap in the newer designs like the one you are looking at, have the hooks on the outside sides of the bag and not inside. Therefore, there should be no issues with rubbing.

Sure - here’s what it looks like, even The side without the mark looks all dirty . I’ve used it about 3 times. I think you’d be fine if didn’t attach the strap at all.

I would go for the twist - if you use the strap on the capucines it’s very likely it will rub and gouge marks into the leather on the inside where the clip is that’s what happened to my almost $10 000 capucines . I will never buy another capucines.
All the new Capucines are with D rings outside the bag, so the strap will not rub the inner leather. I have both old and new Capucines

Aww that looks awful...and to have those kind of marks only after 3 wears!
Have you tried baby wipes to see if it can take some of the gouge marks off?

I was doing research on capucines earlier today and came across a post about defective capucines made prior to 2017, do you think maybe Louis Vuitton will do something about it (assuming yours is the older version & part of the defective patch)?
That 2nd photo is gut wrenching to see...

Thank you blushnbellinlvoe, that is good to know!

Do you know if there might be other potential concerns with a capucines BB?
I personally really like the particular bag that you are eyeing. I love the design, function and color. I firmly believe the taurillon leather is hard wearing and holds up quite well under normal wear. I don’t baby my bags but I also dont throw it on the floor of my car either.

For further insight, may I suggest you check out the thread in the clubhouse of fellow capucines owners. There is a lady there who has the exact bag you are interested in. Perhaps she can provide her opinion after having owned that bag for while. It has been a few months since that new color/finish was launched so any defects should be apparent by now.

!!!!!
I did not know there was a Capucine clubhouse!! I'll be heading there straight away, thank you so much!!

I don't like the TWIST at all because of the big Logo!

I have the Capucine bb in Scarlet red and I love it very much. If you will buy a capucines at that price I wouldn't go for a color like rose. I think it will be dated soon and will spoils you.

But you have to decide what fits you and your lifestyle. Good luck!

Totally a late response. I have the same exact bag in metallic grey and I’ve only had it for maybe 6 weeks or so but I am pretty impressed by how hardy this leather / finish is. She’s not my everyday bag but I have used her quite a bit and I’ve accidentally rubbed her against bumpy walls (if that makes sense) 2-3 times and there’s absolutely no marks. My Empreinte leather got scratches this way (definitely my fault though ..). The finish stayed perfect. I absolutely love this bag!

@fluffy_rainbow just following up…what did you decide?
@blushnbellinlvoe :wave:thanks for following up! I ended up with Twist MM in Rose Trianon (M21605)

I was going to choose the pearl pink capucine, but I don't think it will work the way I want it to when I have a 1yo toddler around me (I wanted an everyday bag sorta-thing). The bag is too lovely for me or my little one to ruin, so I've chosen the hardy epi Twist instead :P

@SN63 Your bag is gorgeous I love it!!! Seriously, the metallic/pearl sheen on the capcuine just makes it that much special.
Thank you for sharing! I've enjoyed the eye candy even tho I can't have it :P

Epi is so durable and awesome! I have 2 little kids as well (1 and 4) so this silver beauty is certainly not my everyday bag - I totally understand. I have Alma BBs and speedy bs as my workhorses. You can’t go wrong with the epi twist <3
