hi- I have this bag too. It's a matte finish on the leather, which I happen to like. I think it's unique. I haven't used my bag yet so i'm not sure about how it will wear. I believe that this leather with the rubber studs is from the 2014 holiday collection. It's definitely a personal preference but i really like the color and the finish.

I think it's an adorable bag...that's why I bought it[emoji12] However, my return was mostly based on color and a little on the texture. I had this same color issue with a Celine bag. The color tends to pull more orange next to me for some reason...and I wanted more of a red. The texture was definitely not like anything I have seen before. I loved the size and style of it...it was perfect!

How about a mod shot? :graucho:

Okey-doke, here's the deal ..

A few years back, Balenciaga made "special" limited edition bags that had a "wet" coating (as they referred to it); some of them with the rubber studs. Your bag is one of those limited edition bags.

These bags were exclusive to the boutiques only (in other words, not sold at Neiman Marcus, Barneys, or any of other retail venues), and I saw the IRL when they had the City. So, while the leather may be Chevre (I thought it was Calfskin - not Chevre), the coating isn't going to come off.

If you don't like the bag, FP is pretty good about returns ..

Thanks for the info! I actually packed it up and dropped it off at FedEx last night[emoji5]️

I will say that many of the covered stud bags seem to lose one or all of the colored covered parts of the stud anyway. I'm not sure if that would pertain to this particular bag considering that it almost looks like it was "dipped" into a coating, but I'm glad you are happy with your decision to return :p

You mentioned that lamb/ agneau is too delicate for you, but in the case of Balenciaga it's actually pretty durable. I prefer the old school chèvre all the way, but there are some great bags with some durable lambskin that's not really comparable to other brands because of the way it's been tanned and treated.

HTHs & good luck with finding a durable BBag!! Remember, don't compare them to any other brands as their leather are so different...especially with the chèvre on on the golden oldies :) It's so different than any other type of chèvre.

The more I think about it, I'm almost 100% positive that the leather on these bags were Calfskin, not Chevre. I recall my discussion with the Balenciaga S/A about the leather and the coating; I don't think they would have been able to do it with Chevre.

If you think back to the '09 Stardust line (also limited edition), it was Calfskin that had been impregnated (sorry - couldn't think of the right word) with the metallic particles (hence the reason why they were sturdier than the "oldie" Metallics). The recent Veau Graine were also Calfskin ..
