Just got this Mini Pompon from FP. It's Chèvre, but it feels weird to me. Honestly, I don't know a lot about Bals other than I love the way they look, and I have the worst luck with their leathers[emoji53] It feels like there is a coating on it or something...I wish I could describe it better. It is NWOT...so does it just need to be broken in?? I have learned over the years that I need a thick, durable, leather. So, I thought I would be good with Chèvre? It does not feel anything like my Givenchy Nightingale which is goat. Any insight will be greatly appreciated![emoji5]️ImageUploadedByPurseForum1454099278.508549.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1454099296.459736.jpg

I'm just guessing here but they do call it a chevre RUBBER mini Pompon. I have an Alexander Wang rubberized lambskin Rockie and the feel is totally different than my other Rockie and Rocco. I believe it's been authenticated here, right? I didnt know Bl did any rubberized leather so this is just a guess, perhaps someone who has knowledge of that can weigh in?

Not Peacebabe but yes, it's the entire bag.

That hardware would be covered so 'rubber' refers to the leather itself.

ETA: This isn't a texture or treatment that I'm familiar with for certain.

Thanks Pikabol! Anyone else ever owned or know of this particular finish on a Balenciaga?

Now oddly, this thread discusses rubber studs..

But strangely if you look at that bag it LOOKS like thick rubbery leather. Look at the strap- it looks so stiff.
So perhaps technically only the studs are made of rubber but the leather sure looks like it has a rubber texture & stiffness.

I would like to hear from somebody that actually owns one of these too. :smile1:

OK, bear with me, as these aren't Balenciaga, but see the pic with my lambskin Rocco (left) and my rubberized lambskin Rockie (right). Duller finish, and a different feel altogether. It doesn't feel like rubber exactly, but kind of "rubbery", a coated leather feel, not as smooth to the touch but I actually really like it on this particular bag. Note that the pebbled effect still shows with the rubberized coating, whereas with that Pompon the texture of the leather looks to be quite different IMHO from the regular chevre.

Yes I see what you're talking about..

It's like a treatment or coating on the leather..
I believe her bag is genuine.. I just wasn't aware of this "new" finish-
I rather like it too. It's especially nice for those that prefer a matte' bag without shine..
I imagine it might be more durable as well.

Very interesting.. Thanks for sharing those photos. :smile1:

My pleasure...would still love to hear from someone who actually has another Bal with that finish!

Here is the description FP gave...they didn't mention anything about the bag itself having a coating. It definitely feels like it does though. Again, I'm clueless when it comes to all the different leathers and finishes...I just know lamb is too delicate for me.

It's pretty clear just from looking at the bag that there's a coating over the leather. No way can that "luxurious chevre" breathe! (and how would they know if the leather is luxurious or not when it's submerged in rubbery stuff!). Just my opinion, but this is where I'd be thanking all applicable deities for the FP return policy.

Yep, I think it's going back tomorrow.

hi- I have this bag too. It's a matte finish on the leather, which I happen to like. I think it's unique. I haven't used my bag yet so i'm not sure about how it will wear. I believe that this leather with the rubber studs is from the 2014 holiday collection. It's definitely a personal preference but i really like the color and the finish.
