You do not risk sending the wrong message by wearing a nice watch. I think a good watch sends a more professional message.

You should look into Jaeger Le-Coultre Master Compressor Lady, Rolex Datejust or Air King, Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra or Longines Master Collection in that order. All sell watches within your price range. Stay with an automatic instead of a quartz movement.

Since you do not plan to buy another watch for another 10 years, I think you should go with something that you really love and want to wear everyday. If it's Cartier, go for it. If it is Rolex, go for it. I believe that looking at something as an investment piece is wise, it should more about you. In ten years, it really will not matter if you made a wise investment. It will be more important to have something beautiful on your wrist that came from your parents on an occasion that was just as special for them as it was for you.

My HG watch was an Omega - not as extravagant was many watches, but I love the history and connection to the Olympics since I was a little girl. Since I did not spend such a crazy amount on a watch, I have purchased some everyday/travel watches. I just tried put Philip Stein (just a Fruitz) and I must say, I think there will be another in my future. I went entry level to see if the natural frequency technology was legitimate. As a lawyer with sleep problems, I would do just about anything to get a good a night's sleep and reduce stress. The watch has lived up to the hype. I sleep in it. And it is not just the placebo effect since I have done sleep studies, tried natural remedies and medications. I feel fantastic!
