See you went with the prong set after all- and yes, if they didn't come threaded, you might want to ask your jeweler to put screw-back posts on your studs to keep them secure (this should cost maybe $10). Congrats on earning your degree!!

Thanks, everyone! Yes, the posts are threaded to avoid loss, which is great. I ended up going with the prong-set because I fell in love with the sparkle of the pair I got, and while the jeweler said they could switch them to bezel-set, I just didn't want to lose any of the sparkle!

I'm thinking of having some custom earring jackets made at some point that I can use with the diamond studs when I want the look of more bling--something like a diamond halo. That's another benefit of going with the prong set; I don't think the bezel-set would have worked quite as well for that.
