DH bought me this ring a couple of years ago - it was preowned so I have no idea about the carat weight but assume it must be pretty big as it is huge even on my tubby size 7 ring finger! It is set in platinum and has diamonds on either side. I love the main stone but never liked the setting with the diamonds.

I would like to redesign the setting, still in platinum, but am debating what to do with any side stones. I would definitely not keep the old ones as they are not great quality. I’m thinking possibly a very delicate diamond halo so as not to detract from the aquamarine and then either diamonds on either side on a single shank or possibly a split shank if that wouldn’t be too much?

I would like to be able to continue wearing this ring with casual clothes, so don’t want the redesign to be too flashy/ornate.

Designs I have already ruled out: just the main stone on a plain band with no diamonds - too plain and a three stone ring design - I have a couple of other three stone rings already and want something different.

I would love to hear your ideas ladies! TIA.

How about a micro pave with diamonds on the claws? The stone is stunning btw!

Thank-you! It has huge sentimental value as DH snuck back to the store we saw it in to buy it for me while I was distracted with something else. He doesn’t normally splash out on jewellery (I buy most of my pieces!) so it was very sweet.

I really love the aquamarine itself but the setting bothers me. I think a micro pave halo sounds beautiful and diamonds on the claws are a great idea! Would you just leave the shank plain?

I would micro pave the whole thing! This way you see diamonds from every angle but not distract from the center stone.

I’m a bold ring person, and your stone is perfect for a bold look. Plus, I think serious ladies need serious rings. [emoji2]

How about these? The designer is JB Star so if you like either of these, you can check out their website. I love JB Star, very high quality and I love their use of different diamond cuts vs. only round brilliants.

My favorite is the first ring, but it might be a bit too much for you. I like the second ring too. As FYI, they also sell semi-mounts.

Good luck and congrats to you!

I’m so sorry for the late reply, I only just saw this. Both rings are stunning but I adore the shank on the emerald ring :loveeyes::loveeyes:

Maybe have a look through pinterest? there are so many styles, some more minimalist, art deco, vintage, retro etc. Its so hard to recommend because everyones tastes are so different. Personally I love art deco but I know its not something everyone loves. wishing you all the best. x

If you like halos, maybe you could do something with a halo not using rounds but using a different shape like pears or marquis? I saw a gorgeous ring at my local jeweller that had a pink stone (maybe a sapphire)in this kind of setting before lockdown (if it is still available after lockdown and isn’t too crazily priced, I will buy it). The stone was a sharp square shape but the marquis halo softened it out like a flower almost. Let me see if I can find a picture of what I mean. I attached a few pictures, the first being what I mean and the others being other examples I like of this style.

It's gorgeous, and such a great romantic story! I'd flip it. An East West setting would proportionally work well on your hand. Halos are fine but there is a lot of fuss with them checking prongs etc. If you want a halo, I'd do a champagne halo. Potentially, less expensive and a fun casual yet romantic look. The tawny taupe would look pretty with the soft blue of your stone.
Not this style, but the tones are pretty together.
