Very similar in lots of ways so, for me, the deciding factor would be whether you want a chain strap or leather strap. Obviously the metis strap could be changed up giving you more options.
Generally, if my options were LV or YSL anything, I would more than likely choose LV. Although I do have the YSL Niki WOC which I love. This one didn’t have a comparable LV item so there wasn’t any dilemma for me!
100% the Pochette Métis in empreinte noir. It's my favourite bag and the strap is super comfortable.
I have the PM in reverse and very much appreciate how much it holds and how it can withstand any kind of weather.
I have two Niki bags (and possibly will not be able to resist acquiring more colors and sizes some day)—so this isn’t an easy choice in my eyes. I adore all the Niki silhouettes!
The point above about straps is a great one. Overall, the PM is designed to be more versatile.
Random idea: If budget allows, maybe you could snag a PM before the next price increase (because let’s face it, there will be another increase before we know it in 2022!). And then you could scan the pre-owned market and wait for the right Niki to come along at the right price.

I love both bags. My Pochette Métis was one of my most carried bags for a while. Now, I just adore my medium Niki. It’s casual but edgy. I also just love the look.
Thank you all for your input on this. I really appreciate it. It’s just a hard decision. I just saw an IG post from handbagcravings where she had a gold/black leather chain strap on her PM. Thank you! I completely agree that the Niki has an edgy look to it and that’s why I love her. But is she good for everyday? I don’t think I would have lasted with her out Christmas shopping today. Is the chain heavy for all day use? I appreciate your thoughts! ❤️
