Wow, it's been a minute that I've been on TPF! Of course I had to come here to get opinions on my next bag!
I have owned the Speedy B 25 in DE before and sold b/c I needed the funds. We are in a better financial position now and I want to treat myself. Now I'm torn between pre-loved Empriente Speedy b 25 or the DE. I love the look of the Mono but I know I'll be too paranoid of the vachetta to use it without reserve.
I know most of the pros and cons of the DE but I've never owned an Empriente bag so would love any pros/cons on the leather. I do know one con is the embossing can smooth out. Are there any years of manufacture that I should avoid? Thanks for any advice!
ETA: I have read that glazing on Empriente (and even on the DE speedy b) is melting and that is freaking me out since I'm buying pre-loved. Ahhhhh whyyyy LV whyyyy?!

I haven’t owned any bags in Empreinte but I’ve owned SLGs and I’ve never had any issues with glazing or the embossing fading. I think you should be fine whichever one you choose.

I am sure both are great bags but I would think the Empriente would be heavy. I only have an empriente key pouch but it is lovely with no fading of the embossing or glazing issues.

I have seen stories of glazing melting on empreinte slgs and bags so I stay away from them. I love my Speedy B25 in DE. Perfect no worry bag.

I think if it was something I intended to carry all the time, I'd go for DE because of the weight... otherwise, the Empreinte... I think in terms of look, the Empreinte just takes it for me!

I feel like the question is which you really want to own, once you've thought about the weight / overall look - because ANY bag could have manufacturing / wear and tear issues, no matter which material you choose.

That is a great point! I've never owned an empriente bag so I'm really leaning toward that because it looks so luxe and is different from the DE that I already owned. I am so torn! LOL

Hi Paula! <3 I knowwwwww that is my fear too! So many glazing issues but then so many that didn't have glazing issues! LOL My head is gonna explode :)

My 2007 Speedy 30 had started cracking and decided I wanted to add a travel bag to my collection. I just picked up a DE 30 B today (texted an SA and I was in luck they had one) but the quality of the leather handle and strap are terrible. I’m sure I’m going to return it. They’ve made it matte so it doesn’t have that leather glistening I was expecting.

I even asked them when I was there if something had changed? Is this still leather? It looks like a fake honestly. I’m seriously considering ordering a pre-loved version for quality leather. This was made in US and think that’s why.

I might try Rodeo instead for a MIF if possible

Yes!!! My Empreinte speedy 25 had melted glazing on the straps. It stick to everywhere and everything when I kept it in storage. I hated it. I thought it was my fault that the glazing melted. So I bought Speedy B 25 in DE too! It’s still perfect 4 years later. I did brought my Empreinte Speedy B to LV eventually and they exchanged it for store credits or a new Empreinte Speedy.

I have owned both, DE speedy b will look always like new unless you abuse it even that you may not able to tell unless look close, empriente is tricky sometimes new bags may not have deep imprint, and it's very understated, unless someone look right at it otherwise may not know it's a LV bag. and leather bags can't fold, canvas bags can fold like pancake and DE (or mono) holds the best resell value, newer glazes on empreninte bags haven't had issue melting
