What would you choose for an anniversary ring?

I have a size 7.5 finger so I want something substantial but also something I can wear all the time. I live in the LA area so there's really no such thing as too big. This is our 17th anniversary and I'm 48 years old, and I want to choose something that I'll be content with for the rest of my life.

I like the Tiffany Sapphire Soleste (top pic) but the sapphire is a little smaller than I'd like - it's about half a carat. Gemvara has a great looking 2.5 carat cushion cut halo, and Blue Nile has a fabulous 5 carat option. Those options are 2-3 times the price of the Tiffany b/c of the larger stones, but there's also something special about a Soleste. (To me at least!)

Opinions please!

My vote would be for the Tiffany Soleste or the Gemvara ring. I am a fan of the Soleste collection so I could see why you would be drawn to that. I bet that ring sparkles like crazy! I hope you get a chance to try them both on to see what you think. If you do, get pics to share!

i know of several people who bought from Gemvara and not one has a good thing to say about it. The complaints range from poor service to poor workmanship to poor quality stones to several complaints about pricing games where they'd have an item assembled and put it in their cart and suddenly it would go up several hundred dollars just by clicking checkout. Each one contacted customer service getting the same answer "sometimes market fluctuations happen." Yea I call BS. So many similar complaints among people I know has put me off of the site entirely.

Thanks Ame - I don't have much experience w/ Gemvara so this is really good to know.

I'd definitely choose a larger stone. I wear a size 5 and have a 2 carat cushion sapphire in a micro halo and wouldn't want anything smaller.

While not T&Co, I believe Laurie Sarah Designs is based out of LA. Perhaps something custom for the occasion?

Thanks to everyone who chimed in - I really appreciate the feedback! And I agree, I think the sapphire needs to be at least 1-2 carats to look proportional on my hands and for me to be satisfied with it for the long run.

I'm new to this board and I have to say, it's fantastic! Thanks again!

I was considering the Tiffany as an anniversary ring last year, but it is overpriced for the stone size. I recommend having a Soleste-style ring custom made. I went with Maytal Hannah (ended up going with a diamond bezel solitaire) whose work is just as fine as Tiffany's. Another fab option is Victor Canera. Both are in Cali. Check their websites. You'd end up with a gorgeous ring with a bigger sapphire for less.

Bigger lol, here's my e ring, 2.5 cushion cut with double halo. I have a size 7 finger & sadly my hands are on the bigger side so I needed a good size stone to really show up on my hand
