Help me choose my first designer bag

Thanks for the reply. How durable do you find the Pochette Metis? Is it something you use just for casual wear or can it be dressed up a bit? I tend to be a bit on the dressier side and wear lots of tailoring (similar to some of the stylings of Balenciaga or Givenchy). I have both Louis Vuitton and YSL stores in my city so I will look into them.

The Pochette Metis in Empreinte Noir might potentially be a good choice if you like tailored pieces. The shape is much like a small briefcase and is structured but not completely (there’s still a bit of a give). It can also fit a lot. It could pass for smart/business casual but maybe not semi-formal to formal.
What I know from the SDJ from YSL (though I don’t own one) is that it’s heavy. I’ve handled it at the dept store once and I didn’t even try it on, it was too heavy.
My sister-in-law has the small Balenciaga City in light gray and it’s a good size. Your choice of size will depend on where you will use it, though, so do consider those factors.
