Help me choose a starter bag please

I've never had a quality bag before. Any bag I have had has been less than $100. I want my first designer bag. I don't want to spend more than $500. I want a leather purse that is an everyday bag. I'd like a medium-sized bag. Suggestions please?

You may want to give the Massaccesi Midi Selene or Aphrodite a look. They are made in Italy and of good leather and quality workmanship.

ETA: There are other beautiful Massaccesi styles available. My personal favorite is actually the midi Minerva. But you might find it a little big even in the midi size.

Need more info. What shape do you like in a bag? What do you need to carry in it? What colors are your favorite? Do you prefer a structured bag or one with slouch?
