help! Gucci Sylvie White or YSL Medium college

Which one do you think is more classic and will stand the test of time?
Im looking for a bag that wont look outdated in the next 5years?

Pls help if you own any one of these bags, hows the quality. What do you think of it

Have the college bag and it is gorgeous. The leather is super luxe and semi-squishy, whereas the sylvie is stiff.

My opinion is that sylvie looks more zipped-up girly-girl to me whereas the college bag looks classic as well as edgy and will prob never go out of style since the look is already inspired by vintage bags. But sylvie also looks like it's inspired by vintage style so go with whatever you feel suits you better.

The Sylvie in white is more of a statement piece, very smart and glamourous.

I would think a Gucci Marmont and the College are closer comparisons. Nice bags but more for everyday.

I think if I had other everyday bags I'd go for the Sylvie but if I had very few everyday throw-arounds I'd go for the YSL (or a Marmont t-h).

The YSL College Bag is BEAUTIFUL! i do love the Gucci Sylvie, but I agree with papertiger, it's definitely more of a statement piece. I love both, but the YSL you could wear with pretty much anything.

I love the Sylvie. I think the YSL bag looks a bit younger; maybe more for going out or something. I think the Gucci is more mature and won't become outdated. Careful with colour transfer with the Sylvie, though.

The YSL College is understated and fabulous! Can be worn with anything, dressed up or dressed down. The Gucci makes such a statement and is more "loud". If you want for everyone to notice your bag, then maybe the Gucci is a better pick. If you want something timeless and chic, I'd go for YSL for sure.

agree with papertiger! also i think the ysl is more likely to be timeless than the gucci as the latter has a few dramatic elements that may go dated - the fabric strap, the large gold hardware. the ysl has less going on and is a classic.

I have the Gucci and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! It is by far the best looking bag I have. The colors are very good and work so well together and go with so many outfits. It stands out and looks good and smart. My favorite. However, having said that, I only use it during special occasions. I bought the one in white because it looks the best, but white gets dirty easily. So it doesn't get carried as much unless it is a special occasion. It doesn't fit much. The long canvas strap bow keeps coming off and I keep having to tie it which is such a pain, it also gets wrinkled very easily. That was very disappointing for me because I wish Gucci had done that design better. For daily use and to carry more things the YSL is probably better. But for special occasions you can't beat Gucci. The Gucci is also more structured so you can't stretch it to fit more. If you intend to carry the bag everyday I would probably go for the Gucci Sylvie in black. I have been very happy with my bag otherwise, it is a beautiful purse. The only one that I had to buy at first sight, while for other bags I spend lots of days thinking before buying. This one I knew was it.

Just based off the color, I would get YSL. White is difficult to maintain so I feel like you would use it less.

I only saw and handled it in the store, the leather didn't feel fragile to me, but it didn't seem like a bag where you would want to put a lot in, as the shape might really suffer, I have the college bag in large with silver tone hardware (would have preferred the just black, but it wasn't in) and I totally love it. To me it is more practical, the leather feels better and it really goes with everything. It's a bag I can see myself carrying in 5 or 10 years.
