Help finding a watch for a non watch person

Tiffany does sell watches at its stores on Bloor and at Yorkdale. Also, you might want to call the Gucci store on Bloor to see if they have the watch that was mentioned here (though I believe that Holt's also sells Gucci watches). And I am a very happy owner of the Cartier La Dona; they also have their boutique on Bloor, even if you want to go in and browse with no intention of buying. They are very nice and you would at least have an idea of style.

Also consider some of the double wrap (officially called double tour) watches by Hermes. They are really pretty.

And ... if you don't want to spend a ton but want a look to try out, don't overlook Swatch. I have had several Swatch watches and got a ton of compliments on them and they look great. Also Michael Kors for something more fashion forward without breaking the bank. I think they are stainless and not nickel.

Thanks! Hopefully I can stop in Toronto on the way home Saturday. I will probably hit up the yorkville area since I know it better. I have nickle allergies so I guess that is another thing I have to think about too when I am looking.
I don't remember seeing Gucci at Holt's guess I didn't look hard enough last time!!

ohh I need to pay more attention next time I go!
To be fair I got lost in the makeup last time...and they had some bobbi brown event going on so it was packed.

Try checking Nordstrom online for watches, they have lots of nice ones! Then you don't have to go all the way to the city to look for watches.:smile1:

Since you're not really a watch person, maybe start with something nice looking but not too expensive, that way it won't be too tragic if you find you just hate watches and never wear it again. Michael Kors has a lot of nice watches that are two or three hundred dollars.

I was looking at Michael Kors ones the other day too thinking the same thing! I really like the Tiffany one though...but I would hate to spend the money and then have it sit in a jewellery box forever. So maybe I should go for a cheaper brand first then aim higher if I actually stick to wearing a watch LOL!
Plus as of today I am saving money for a trip in the spring (hopefully)! So I need to stop shopping here so I can shop on the trip!!

The nice thing about watches is that so many designers and manufacturers pick up on a popular style that you can road test something inexpensive before deciding to splurge on a higher end model.

I've never been much of a watch gal either, but lately I've been junking out bigtime on watches. Maybe if you're worried that you'll let it sit spend less then $100 on a nice quality watch so as not to totally waste $$$ and see if you wear it!!

I'd like to suggest QVC's diamonique chrono. I have it and it's good quality, you can remove one of the fastner links and it's got a good size without being TOO MUCH!

Here's the link, mine looks gorgeous IRL and I think they ship to Canada??

*update*

I found a most beautiful watch necklace at a second hand store here the other day! It's vintage, winds up and works perfect...It's a little on the pricey side (can't remember what brand), so I am on the fence about buying it. It has been there awhile so I don't think it's going anywhere soon. I'm wondering if I should maybe splurge on this instead since it seems more me than an actual watch...Then my dilemma starts with not being able to wear my other necklaces if I always want to wear the watch one. Why do I have to be so picky??? LOL
