Ok so first of all, I am not a watch person, never have been really. I am trying to find myself the perfect watch that I will actually WANT to wear. I honestly have no idea where to start brand wise or price range wise? I want to ideally get something that will be an investment piece, and I only want to buy one and that's it. I live in a remote area so I don't have a huge brand selection so I will probably wait until I go to Toronto in a few months.
I was out watch shopping today and nothing really caught my eye...I was looking at Fossil and Guess watches though since that's pretty much all I can get in my area.
I like slightly larger pieces, but I have tiny wrists so it would probably have to be something that they could remove links, bangles are probably out because they are always too large. I also have allergies to costume jewellery so it would have to be either gold/silver/stainless steel. Any suggestions for brands/price points/stores would be appreciated!!

What other jewelry do you wear?

Generally on a daily basis I wear a two tone yellow and white gold right hand rings (ring finger), and a yellow gold pinky ring. I have my ears pierced twice and wear earrings daily ( I tend to mix metals and colours depends what I am wearing), but most of the time no one can see my ears anyway (same with my navel). If I wear something low cut and with few details I sometimes wear a necklace.
I like jewellery but I prefer earrings and rings. I keep jewellery in my piercings pretty much 24/7, and I feel naked without my rings because I have been wearing them for so long. I only own a couple of bracelets and it's very rarely that I wear them.

What is your price point? I can recommend many watches, but I need to know information about your likes and dislikes: white vs yellow metals, bracelet watch vs. leather strap, etc.

Right now I don't have a price point because I don't know what a good watch will cost. I don't have a metal preference as long as it isn't costume jewellery/high nickle content because I have allergies. Also nothing coated or painted that will chip over time. If it's on my wrist it will probably come into contact with many a counter over it's lifetime. Scratches I'm not worried about though. I prefer metal vs. leather strap. I had a leather one that I got as a graduation present and the strap ripped almost all the way through in 6 months even though I rarely wore it. I don't think I want anything too bling-y either because I want it to be something I can wear daily.

How about Gucci Twirl watch? It looks like a bracelet.

I had to google it  I like that one! I can't tell from the google pics but can they be adjusted to fit smaller wrists?? Here is where everyone can make fun of me, my wrists are about 5 1/2 inches around...6 inches if I want it to fit loose like a bangle. This is why bracelets/watches are not my favourite things...I think most standard sizes are 7.5inches for adults?

It can be adjusted because only half of the watch is like a bangle. I have one and had it adjusted as well :smile1:

Hi, ladyash!
I am not a watch person, either. I love rings (and bracelets) because they are pleasing to my eyes!!! I often go out without a watch, but always with rings and bracelets.

If you are NOT a watch person, do not go with a clock-up, mechanical watch. My dh has encouraged me to buy one and I've bought a Blancpain's. But, I don't wear Blancpain's rarely because adjusting the watch before you wear is a too much of a bother. I know there is an automatic watch winding box, but, but, but... Anyway, I prefer quartz.automatic watches!

I am not the right person to advise you on watches, but when I wear a watch, I wear Cartier La donna in gold with leather wristbands (or a Tiffany 18K gold watch). Both are small and not heavy. Perhaps, La Dona Stainless Steel will be easily worn daily and maintained. I've been considering of purchasing CHAUMET Class One watch (red or white) for outdoor activities. But, I don't know when because I am not so enthusiastic!:p

I 'm not a watch person either. I have a Cartier Tank in gold with leather strap and rarely wear it for shopping, a stainless steel & diamonds vivante Victorinox Swiss Army that I used to wear at work but not anymore, a Follie Follie ceramic for vacation, and a pink Baby G Casio that I always carry in my bag. I think I prefer stainless steel watches, the smaller the better. I'm very interested in the Longines Dolce Vita http://www.longines.com/watches/longines-dolcevita/L5.158.0.92.6, it is very small (I have tiny wrists too) and elegant, and not flashy at all. And it is not crazy expensive, in case you decide not to wear it everyday. Less than 2k, on line I see it goes around $1,700.

If you like the look of fashion watches I think Folli Follie is a nice alternative, very inexpensive watches, and great service from the company. See if you like something like this one http://www.follifollie.com/product/31_1_02_28_358135_n/WATCH-FASHION-WF7B019ZDW-BAGUETTE.html

wow thank you!!! I think out of all of them I like the Tiffany Atlas Dome Watch the best...I could see myself wearing that one. I don't see watches listed on their Canadian site though??? Does anyone know if they would have them in Canada if I went to the one in Holt Renfrew?

Tiffany does sell watches at its stores on Bloor and at Yorkdale. Also, you might want to call the Gucci store on Bloor to see if they have the watch that was mentioned here (though I believe that Holt's also sells Gucci watches). And I am a very happy owner of the Cartier La Dona; they also have their boutique on Bloor, even if you want to go in and browse with no intention of buying. They are very nice and you would at least have an idea of style.

Also consider some of the double wrap (officially called double tour) watches by Hermes. They are really pretty.

And ... if you don't want to spend a ton but want a look to try out, don't overlook Swatch. I have had several Swatch watches and got a ton of compliments on them and they look great. Also Michael Kors for something more fashion forward without breaking the bank. I think they are stainless and not nickel.
