I'm afraid of damaging the leather. I might condition it with Apple and see what happens, I've had good success cleaning bags with Apple before. Or maybe I will just start using it again and hope that the whole bag becomes metallic so at least it will be even and may look cool.

OK because I like living on the edge  I took my mogano hobo and my bottle of Moneysworth and Best leather cleaner and went at it. My hobo had turned a copper metallic in uneven patches. See photos, first one is metallic (hope you can tell) second one is after I cleaned it (goodbye metallic:p), the third is what the cloth looked like after I used it (that's the metallic yuck on the cloth, the leather on the bag wasn't harmed), the last is the product I used. I've used this product on other bags without colour residue being left on the cloth so I'm confident that everything you see is the metallic bloom that was on the bag, maybe a bit of soil, I purchased it pre-loved. It may be hard to see from the pics but the metallic is gone gone gone...I'll look at it again tomorrow after a night's drying to be sure but right now she's looking good!

Wow! Your Bal looks awesome. I can see a big difference. I'm definitely considering it now.

Meh, I looked at it again this morning and the metallic is still there. Not as much though. I'm going to try a different cleaner today and will let you know how it goes. Not sure if I just didn't do a good enough job yesterday, it's hard to tell when the leather is still a bit damp from the cleaner, the metallic "goes away" so you can't see it until it dries. But there's definitely less of it so I'm hopeful that another cleaning will do the trick.

OK, update. I used Neo-Cleaner this time and looked at the bag this morning. Still a little bit here and there of the metallic, but much better. I think that it just takes a few cleanings, as once the leather has the cleaner on it you can't see the metallic so you don't know if you've removed it all. My guess is any decent leather cleaner will do the trick. It'll be interesting to see if the metallic returns after time. But at least as far as my bag is concerned you can definitely take the metallic bloom off!
