Hi everyone!
I purchased a black Rocco with rose gold hardware from The Corner in January 2016. It has only been used a handful of times and has been stored in a dustbag in a dark closet. Today I noticed that the bag is turning colors to a metallic bronze. I'm guessing it's a problem with the black dye used on the bag. Has it happened to anyone else?1472505405014.jpg

For what it's worth my Bal 07 mogano hobo has done the same thing. s.tighe mentioned that it happened with some bags in the past. It's almost as if something in the finish has oxidized. I wouldn't mind trying to take it off of my bag, if I find a product that helps I'll let you know!

It's really annoying. I emailed The Corner and Alexander Wang since there is a 1 year warranty. The Corner said I need a letter from a professional bag repair vendor documenting the damage in order to open a return claim. Now I need to find someone to write the letter...

Wouldn't photos suffice?

I'm starting to think that if the whole bag acquires this metallic color, it may look pretty cool. It has a pink tint to it and would look nice with the rose gold hardware. I just don't know if the whole bag will end up like this because right now it's in patches.

My Bal is more metallic on the front than the back, which makes me wonder if it could actually be rubbed off. I'll have to experiment gently!

I'm having that same problem with my black Rockie. It looks a bit like an oil slick to me. I purchased mine second-hand, so I'm not sure if AW would accept a return or exchange. Does anyone know if AW only accepts returns/exchanges for items purchased through their website/store directly?

Hope AW helps you out with your bag! It doesn't look awful & sort of looks kinda neat... Reminds me of the rainbow hardware!

My guess is that you'd need a receipt.

You have to have a receipt from an authorized retailer. I'm still waiting to hear back from their repairs department, though I can't imagine how they would repair it.

I heard back from AW and they said: "our handbags are made with very soft and delicate untreated materials; thus making it very sensitive to sun exposure and natural oils." And that they can't do anything about it and recommended I send my bag to a spa. I think this is BS because I used the bag a max of 5 times and it was stored in my dark closet in a dustbag for months and acquired this color change.

Have you considered just getting a good quality leather cleaner and trying that, now that you know AW isn't going to do anything?

I'm afraid of damaging the leather. I might condition it with Apple and see what happens, I've had good success cleaning bags with Apple before. Or maybe I will just start using it again and hope that the whole bag becomes metallic so at least it will be even and may look cool.
