Ladies and gents of purseforum, this is my first post/ thread =) I'm so excited. I need some help here, Im 5'2 and about 100 pounds in weight. would a Birkin 40 be to big/heavy for me? I like oversize bags but I don't think I have any as big as a Birkin 40 (Ive only had kelly-28 and birkin-30s). Recommendations please, opinions and suggestions. i really appreciate it and Thanks in advance! I really can't wait to hear from everyone!

;)

@christymarie340: True enough, I think the biggest bag I own would be a MM Herbag. I just don't want it too look too awkward on me. like the bag is wearing me instead! lol =) thx for the input

@syma: I'm looking through the thread right this moment! thanks for showing it to me! =D

It may not necessarily look awkward or too big on you, but it may feel too big when you wear it, especially if you are used to Kelly 28 and Birkin 30. I think the base juts out from the body much more than on the smaller bags, which makes a huge difference to me. I love how a 35cm Birkin looks on me (makes me look skinnier :D), but I know I would either be running it into walls and doors...or I'd be holding it out in front of me to avoid running it into walls and doors!

@bagshopr: Thank you! yeah, I should think about it more, its just that the only thing available for me to get is a size 40, i don't know how long I should wait for a 35 =(. should I wait? I'm really afraid to let this opportunity pass by. lol

@ouija board: YES I DO LOVE the slimming effect of big bags. :D. The birkin i have in mind is an indigo 40 in clemence. So i'm hoping because of the dark color, it would seem smaller. Im still at a crossroads and hope to figure it out soon! thank ouija!

you should also consider the weight. whether it looks too big for you is one thing, but i am just wondering how far you can carry it if it is loaded with stuff!? :shrugs:

are you planning to carry it or wear it on your shoulder? if you think you can lug around it on your shoulder, have you considered JPG 42?

I'm your height and I find the 35cm too big. It's not just the way the bag looks. I bang it everywhere - I get out of the cab and bang it against the door, I walk through the restaurant and it touches everything along the way. These days I only use my 35cms when I need to carry documents and laptop. Otherwise it's a 30cms (which fits the ipad perfectly)

I am 5'2" and about 105lbs. I have a gold 40 cm birkin and I do not use it very much because I think it just looks too big (and I am someone who love, love, loves big handbags). The bag sort of overpowers me and I find that I walk very slowly because I am trying to balance the big bag without stumbling into things. The weight doesn't bother me that much but I am much more comfortable with the size of the 35cms. I don't use my 30cm that much because that bag is a bit too small. I guess I am like Goldilocks..40 cm too big, 30 cm too small, 35 cm just right.:D

Your very welcome, I understand your dilemna but you have to wait for your perfect B to come around and please do not settle for anything second best, it will be an expensive mistake. Only buy a 40cm if it seems 100% right to you. Here are pics of a girl with your height carrying a 40cm to give you an idea of size....

Yes. I think a 40 would look completely out of proportion to your size and you'd have a heck of a time carrying it. It's very heavy......

I'm 5'3" and can only do a 30cm which I am extremely happy with. Anything bigger looks too much like luggage and becomes the first thing people notice.....
