I would go with #1 (top one), no hardware to worry in the future. However, have you look at other style? I brought similar style for my husband 3 years ago. He have been using it every day, however, when he put in his pocket, the edge are bend and fold. Thanks goodness it haven't rip or de-glaze yet but I am thinking about sell it and get a slimmer one or different style.
