Bummer...I wish I had seen this thread before my trip! TL;DR
I recently returned from Hawaii, where I bought a ring at the Ala Moana location. I had an appointment that I had made online, and my husband went with me. I am new to Cartier, and honestly, the experience was underwhelming. I can't say the SA was rude, but she wasn't particularly friendly or kind either. I was really hoping for someone warm and welcoming so I would feel comfortable enough to also try on some other items to put on my wishlist (I am very shy and reserved IRL). However, she seemed mildly annoyed that I asked to try on two different rings that were in different counters/rooms at the store, and then a tad put out when I asked if I could try them on one right after the other, at the same counter, instead of walking back and forth between the two rooms/counters (which is what she had me do at first). When that seemed like a bother to her, there was no way I was gonna ask to try on other items for my wishlist! We don't live anywhere near a store, so it would've been nice to try on the two bracelets I'm interested in so I could give my husband the correct sizes (for future online purchases), but I was just too intimidated at that point. I may have been projecting my own insecurities, but I had the feeling that she sized me up as being someone who was only going to buy an entry level item and wasn't worth any more of her time -- for example, when I introduced myself and said said there were 2 rings I was interested in, she interrupted me and said "the love collection is right over here," yet I hadn't even had a chance to say which two rings they were.![]()
I don't mean to create the wrong impression here -- I wasn't expecting anyone to fall all over me, or give me anything for free. But not acting mildly put out by a customer who'd bothered to make an appointment, and said she wanted to make a purchase that day, would've been nice, lol. It definitely wasn't a great introduction to the brand! By contrast, I had a wonderful experience at both Gucci boutiques in Honolulu, even though at one I bought nothing, and at the other I only bought a pair of shoes.
Lesson learned: if/when I plan to visit a store in person, I'll be sure to ask on TPF for SA recommendations!![]()
Aww. So sorry got your horrible experience! I would have said thank you and walked away! Wouldn’t even waisted my time with a SA who’s just not compassionate to provide service for anything that is being sold. Too bad I wasn’t there with you as I would have introduced you to my SA! May your future purchase be a great one next time!
