I would call and check with your local Cartier just to double check. I would just be worried you might have to pay tax
You don't need to pay tax to engrave. Only exchange.

I'm from the U.S. and my friend is going to Germany next month. I want to take advantage of the euro being low. He said he could help me purchase a Love bangle, but I have a couple of concerns:
1. Is there any paperwork that needs to be in my name for warranty or registration purposes? I believe his name needs to be on there for the VAT refund.
2. Will the Cartier in the US help me put the bracelet on?
3. Are there any other things I need to consider? Is there something else I would receive here versus elsewhere?
4. Can engraving be done here, or would they charge me since I didn't purchase it here?
5. Will it affect the polishing service available at the boutique?
Sorry for all the questions! This would be my first Love and I want to make sure I get everything right. I know I would be sacrificing the experience, but the cost savings are approximately 20%!
Thanks for all your help!
Hi. May I pls know how much is it in USD if you purchase it in Germany? Thanks[emoji4]
Hi, my friend ended up not being able to make the trip, but the price had increased to 5550 euros early last month. The price before that had been 5250 euros. The prices are available on the cartier website.
WOW! Even at 5550 euros, That still a huge savings considering that its $6600 in the US plus 8.875% sales tax. Is that already the actual price in Germany with tax included?
Yes, it is much less than the price here! The 5550 is inclusive of the VAT. So, according to global blue site, the refund would be 750 euros...making the final price 4800 euros! Even with the duties that need to be paid when reentering back into the U.S. (Which I think is $350, using a duty calculator) It's such a great time to buy, but unfortunately I won't be heading there soon.
However, the yen is also pretty weak compared to the dollar, so I'll be heading to Japan next month!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing. Im actually planning to get another love soon for my birthday. Do you mind sharing how much it is in USD if bought in Japan? My fiance's sister in law will be going there on May. Thank you for sharing all information![emoji4]
According to the cartier website, the plain rose gold love is approximately 697000 yen inclusive of tax. So, it includes the 8% tax that would be deducted if you got it duty free, which would be approximately 645000 yen. At the current rate of 121 yen to 1 usd, the approximate price would be $5300 usd. I believe this is correct, although I haven't double checked my math. Even with duties paid, there is still a significant amount of money saved. Hope this helps!

Just sharing some info from recent Cartier purchases in Japan a month ago. Prices *may* go up next month though.
You can get 8% tax off the prices stated on Cartier's Japan website (remember to bring passport along), as tiffany221 explained. At the Cartier flagship store in Ginza, the tax rebate is automatically included at payment.
However, you can save even more at the airport! At Haneda airport's Cartier store, the love (plain, yellow or rose gold) was going for 613000 yen - final price, approximately US$5066. However the stock there is very limited so not all sizes may be available.
