Ok so I had ordered the kelly en caleche 70cm carre and was so so so excited. I happened to also receive some pieces I had won on ebay. I was actually more excited and pleased with the ebay item than with the kelly en caleche. I will be putting up photos for your opinions but the deal is this:
wrinkled scarf, wrinkled tissue, scarf was so not placed properly in the box, and when I examine it, it has additional wrinkles as though it had been used (not on display) and the rolled edges are visibly uneven and sometimes with threads sticking out. I know that I might be examining minutiae and this is a handrolled piece, so uniqueness is to be expected, but this seems to me to be quite visible. Am I just being super anal today or what? Your opinions please...will be uploading pics later on this evening!

I've definitely come to the conclusion that some people don't give a darn about how something is handled, and they don't think you'll care either.

I had a paper item I won on eBay sent in a plain envelope, and it rained that day so the mail got a little wet. Ruined. When I recently had an H bracelet sent from the Charlotte store, it was in even better shape than if I'd gotten it myself in Atlanta. It was pristine and perfect, like they'd just received it from the factory.

You just never know, but it's always the worst when it comes from an actual sales associate in a store as they should have been trained better than that, and they should also hope the person wants to come back and will ask specifically for them so they can build their client book. God is in the details as the saying goes.

Bordelle, you should contact your SA and voice your disappointment. They will surely do what they can to make you happy. If you don't say anything, they don't know you are unhappy. I'm sure nothing was done intentionally wrong. It's simply not the H way.

Thanks Ammietwist and hermesmonkey - I appreciate your responses. To me every detail matters, I mean it's not like this is a $5 car wash, I do expect care when handling! I just didnt know if it would be a valid thing to voice my opinion on, plus not sure how hard it would be to get a replacement.

Thanks Hermes Monkey - i really appreciate your agreement. It is bothering me so much but I keep wondering if I am being too nitpicky! Lol. For a boutique purchase, shouldn't I be?
I am in the process of gettign the pics up...will post shortly

My only disappointments have been regarding colors. It is the chance you take with cameras and monitors. I have found that some blues, purples and greens just don't translate well. I also make an adjustment in my brain for most pics of bags and scarves and tell myself that IRL the colors are probably darker than they appear in the picture. You have to make allowances for the flash. I also shocked at how some things are just thrown into a box. Everyone once in while, you will find a seller who is so meticulous in their wrapping that it takes 15 min to get it open LOL!

I have this scarf and it does not have the threads I see on yours. The threads bother more than the corner. I would definitely return this. My concern is that the exposed threads come undone and the rolled hem comes undone. This should never have been sent out from the workroom IMO. Call the SA and tell her you are returning it as it is unacceptable.

ok success. I spoke to her and she said she was not expecting this to even be an issue and she will speak to the store that sent it. She asked that I send it back to her so she can look at what I am talking about. Any advice at this time like should I keep the receipt and whatnot?

I have found that the quality control at H, at least on scarves, can be surprisingly lax. One thing that I often find are scarves where the needle used for hemming has caused a small run in the fabric. I once got a scarf I was dying for from a fellow collector - paid over retail - only to find that almost EVERY place where the needle went through the silk at the hem had a small run. Not a happy camper. Since there wasn't realistically much I could do, I decided to just wear the damned thing and enjoy it!

But your situation is different - I would have done exactly as you did. If you are not happy with a piece from the boutique, by all means send it back! I would send her a COPY of your receipt and keep the original for your records. Sounds as if she will do the legwork for you by getting in touch with the store where the scarf was shipped from.

I have often found little things along the hem - a small bump or spot where it looked like the rouletesse (or whatever they are called) had a lapse of attention or something. It usually doesn't bother me because they are hand done. But having threads and edges sticking out is a different issue, because those can start to pull out and maybe run or unravel or something.

I do know that this scarf was extremely popular and the thought entered my mind that perhaps this one's hem issues are one reason it hasn't been sold. But that could be TOTALLY made up on my part!

I would be fit to be tied (as my mother would say) if I received a carelessly packed item from Hermes - absolutely no excuse for that ever!

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out!
