I’ve heard of people wanting their le pliage and Neo items in the washing machine. Has anyone tried this? How did it turn out? I’m concerned about ruining the bag. Also, did it clean up any stains?

I've always cleaned my nylon Le Pliage tote with babywipes, but there's a stubborn sticky spot that the wipes won't clean. I remember reading that someone on here cleaner his/her Le Pliage in the washing machine. What does that do to the leather flap and handles?
