Handbags in the Rain ☔️

I use leather bags in the rain.

Leather should be able to cope with a few raindrops; otherwise, it's not really fit for purpose.

I would even use some suede, to be honest.

I find suede and sheepskin are actually fine in the rain, as long as they don't get muddy/dirty and you accept that they will have rain spots on them for, possibly, weeks at a time.

Eventually, the spots (usually) go and if not, depending on the style and colour of the item, it can actually add to character.

There again, I only tend to be out in the rain (with a bag) for short periods, these days.

So, it is less of a concern than it was (for example) when I had to sometimes walk for miles on end, in torrential rain, as a student.

Honestly, many if not all my bags have held up in the rain (knock on wood). Even my nubuck Gucci and that terrified me. After knowing I wouldn't have that bad of a heartache if my luxury bags did get some rain on it, I no longer worried as much.

The weather here is too unpredictable. I just carry my bags and hope for the best. What can I say? I like to live on the edge.
I'm the same way. I wear 85% of my bags in any weather - rain, snow, heat wave... For the most part, when I'm buying I think that if the bag can't function in my "real life" I don't need them. This is regardless of price point. My most expensive bag (Chanel caviar jumbo) is a go to for bad weather days.

My very few exceptions to this are my one nubuck, two lambskin and one metallic bag. But all the rest - the other lambskin, all the regular leather, all the other metallic and the patent - get used whenever. I'm just careful to wipe them down and clean / condition them regularly so they stay looking new.
