Michael Kors Hamilton question

I just called MK repair and told them I needed a replacement lock. They asked for my bag's serial number to verify it was still in warranty and then mailed me the new lock.

Having a "blonde moment" here, and can't remember how to find the serialnumber. Where is it?
They didn't ask you why you needed the lock?

There is a white tag with the serial number on the inside lining of the n/s Hamilton tote in the near right side corner crease when the lock is facing away from you and the inside zipper pocket is on your nearest side. And, no, they didn't ask why I needed the lock.

Thanks you ladies for your input and advice. I decided to go ahead and meet the person selling it and to my surprise the key WAS there and she didn't even know it. I double checked to see if it really was authentic and it is. So I went ahead and got it. For only $100!!! loving my new hamilton bag with the silver hardware : )
